Pass thanks on him.Richardfje wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 12:06 am Has Elton Jantjies contract up this season as I haven't seen anywhere that he signed a new one and he's been playing 12 for the Lions so, and I'm not say this is realistic, I think he would be a good addition.

I'd take Jantjes in a heartbeat! Most who don't want him have probably only saw him in an international shirt and not a Lions one where he has been fantastic for the past 3/4 seasons. Last season was quite disappointing but that was more the team as a whole with injuries and the player drain.

I would not have Jantijies.

Non-starter. I think he'd struggle with the defensive requirements of playing 12 in the NH particularly alongside Fordy who whilst a willing tackler isn't going to cover for anybody else with his physicality. Don't think there's any benefit in him being the bench option for his career or our squad cost as he won't be cheap and we now have several options at back up 10.Scott1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 6:14 am I'd take Jantjes in a heartbeat! Somewhere in France will snap him up or if he wants to come to England then Quins, Falcons (if he doesn't mind a season in the Championship) maybe Sale or Exeter might all be interested depending on the price.

He wouldn't suit Exeter, Sale need an inside centre now O'Connor has left.

Exeter need a different option to the steady controlling flyhalfs they have. In European games when the pack has only parity neither Simmons nor Steenson has shown they can break down a quality defence. Chiefs could very much do with some more creativity at half back.
Sale have Van Rensburg still, I imagine he'll play 12 with Sam James at 13, Luke James can also come into the midfield, du Preez can play 12 as well. If Jjanties went to Sale he'd be at 10. If Jjanties lined up at 12 in the NH that would be the target for every big running player. You can't hide your inside centre in defence like you can hide your flyhalf sometimes. I suppose Sale could if Luke James was at 15 but then they're dropping one of their explosive back three to do so.

Redpath will potentially get more game time as well.
Highly doubt we have the cap required to sign Jantijies anyway.
Honestly i'm interested to see McPhillips develop.

Are we expecting any further additions, or is that us done for now?

I have a hunch that someone will be arriving after the World Cup.

Rumoured to have offered Smit a contract. Whether this is injury dispensation for Denton is unknown.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 12:53 pm Are we expecting any further additions, or is that us done for now?

As someone previously pointed out (Scott??) - the two little yet important words 'for now' suggests more to follow at some point.
I'm interested to know how long the gap will likely be between the likes of Lavinini being available for selection for us and when he might play for the first 15. In other words, what is a reasonable duration for 'acclimatisation' after coming back from RWC.

Quite a well balanced article on our transfer dealings thus far, I believe:

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

I believe that apart from possible injury cover for Denton that will be it on the signingskk20gb30 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:53 pm Quite a well balanced article on our transfer dealings thus far, I believe:
