Ant Allen wasn't a big name international (bar his couple of early caps). He was still a rock in our midfield for years. What we need now is another defensive organiser like him more than we need another explosive finisher. I'm hoping Reid will be the glue that brings the backline together and he can play 10 so should be that second playmaker in the backline.

Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

I’m sure the preseason and PRC will be used for experimentation.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

How many PRC games before the season starts? I don't want to see a repeat of last season where we went with the kids then had the first team going into league games "cold". With no internationals we have to hit the ground running!

I wish I shared this optimistic assessment. When I spoke to Leinster fans in Newcastle recently they all seemed astonished we had picked him up. I’d like to proved a unnecessary pessimist and the Leinster fans to be WInd Up Merchants (wouldn’t be the first time would it?), but....Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:21 pmI’d disagree, Reid is a quality player and more than good enough to be in the starting XV. He was highly rated at Leinster and will fit in nicely.
Obviously with a wage cap we’re limited and any spare funds I’d want mainly spending on the forwards.

Leinster fans I spoke to said that as far as they knew Leinster had made him and offer to stay and they would have preferred to keep him for another couple of seasons whilst a couple of youngsters that were potential internationals came through.Grimlish wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:15 pmI wish I shared this optimistic assessment. From what I've seen of Reid he looks to be an organiser and leader on the pitch. Not sure he's going to wow use with his skillset but we don't need that at 12. We need someone to sort the defensive structure and put his body on the line.

My Dublin friends describe Reid as solid squad player whose best days are behind him.

Interesting most Leinster fans on their forum think he is hitting his prime and this season was his best rugby.

There's always a split of opinion when players leave.
I read mixed stuff when Gopperth moved on from Leinster.

Here’s a radical idea, how about we play the guy that plays 12 internationally for England with great success, at 12 for Tigers...
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
He cant tackle.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD
Manu can't tackle?! he jumps out the line and gets caught positionally but boy he can tackle! Ask Parling or Cowan

Because he's a better 13. Where's he played with greater success for England (beating the ABs). England lack a natural 12 of the same level as their three very good 13s (Joseph struggling for fitness currently though).Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 8:07 pm Here’s a radical idea, how about we play the guy that plays 12 internationally for England with great success, at 12 for Tigers...

But we have better options at 13 than 12 so move Manu inside and play someone else at 13sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 9:26 pmBecause he's a better 13.
