Good group, we shouldn’t take Pau or Cardiff lightly and should really focus on winning the competition next year.

European Rugby Challenge Cup
Pool 1: Castres Olympique, Worcester Warriors, Dragons, Enisei-STM
Pool 2: Scarlets, RC Toulon, London Irish, Bayonne
Pool 3: Wasps, Edinburgh Rugby, Bordeaux-Begles, Agen
Pool 4: Stade Francais Paris, Bristol Bears, Zebre Rugby Club, Brive
Pool 5: Cardiff Blues, Leicester Tigers, Pau, Rugby Calvisano

Pool 3 looks hardest. Pool 4 isn't easy either.

Just remember a trip to Calvisano can double as trip to either Lake Garda or Verona :smt046

Tigers should be pleased with that draw, although away wins in Cardiff and Pau will not be easy.

Pau didn't have the best of seasons in the Top14 and finished 11th but nonetheless will be a tough nut to crack in their home stadium.

For travelling to Pau, there are two airports in the region, Tarbes/Lourdes which is about 40 minutes drive to Pau (although I don't think there are daily flights from with Ryanair from Stansted ), and Biarritz (also with Ryanair from Stansted) which is about 90 minutes drive to Pau.
There's a direct rain from Bayonne (very close to Biarritz airport) to Pau
You can also go by train to Pau from Paris Montparnasse. There are direct trains but sometimes a change in either Bordeaux or Dax is necessary.
For me, Pau is about 1h40 by car, so all being well, I'll be going!

The Pau club is known as "Section Paloise". I believe the name comes from and old sporting club in Pau in the early 1900s and the rugby part of the club became known as the "Section", as in English and the word "Palois" means an inhabitant of Pau.

Pau have the likes of Steffon Armitage, Peter Saili and Frank Halai in their ranks as well as the incoming Ben Smith and Luke Whitelock, they’re not to be sniffed at especially away.

We have the easiest group to get out of, if we fail to win that group our players and coaches will need to have a good look at themselves.

Iirc I don't think Pau really bother with the CC and concentrate on the league, could be wrong though. Either way it's arguably the easiest groups,no excuses imo.

Great memories of the last trip to Pau and the party with the players in the Black Bear after our victory.
