I would have liked to have seen it and can see no obvious logic or stand out factors preventing his return. The thing is ,timing has to be right for both sides as do the potential working arrangements and as supporters we have limited knowledge of goings on behind the scenes - so who knows whether we tried but had no luck.
Seems a little ironic however that one of the top coaches in his field with strong connections to The Club, highly respected and with a proven track record has not made it back to Welford Road in a coaching capacity whilst other ex players are seemingly employed to coach without regard to either experience , ability or suitability for their respective roles.
Perhaps our loss , time will tell.Maybe one day we will see him back here.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

IF he was approached, perhaps he simply didn’t fancy it. For whatever reason.

He was tailor made for the job. A great shame. :smt022

Stings a bit this one, obviously we don't know any of the ins and outs but it does seem to imply that the BOD aren't seriously looking to replace our largely ineffective forwards coach. I've got a sinking feeling that we're stuck with our lot for next season.

Well at least it doesn’t give ‘certain others’ yet another reason to whinge about recruiting ex-Tigers. That seems to be a capital crime these days.

Maybe because;

a) he didn't want to be
b) his last job at Quins did not go well
c) his specialisation is at the scrum and we already have one and we want a forwards coach that is more equipped to fix our lineout or generally add skills we don't have in the current setup

That's right Sam . His speciality is the Scrum - that's not the bit that need sorting .

I'd stick with the coaches in place.
The general consensus on here when Thacker was playing was that he was the more reliable line out thrower, but that did also go wrong late in matches with missed opportunities when the pressure was higher.
I can still see them now, Thacker would come on and the line out would start functioning and then they'd blow a huge must win line out just a few metres out with the finishing line in sight.
It all leads me to believe that it isn't a coaching issue but more individual accuracy and then pressure and then possibly a confidence issue.
WR goes from expectation to letting out a huge dull sounding groan when a lineout is missed and I think it's one of the hardest grounds to throw in at.
The crowd used to get on top of opposition at line outs and it often worked, but it has transferred to the home team somewhat in my opinion.

Stick with the coaches in place and I don't expect anything different next season!

Only time will tell but I think it important that the crowd does its bit in trying to make WR a fortress and is after getting on the backs of the opposition rather than their own team so easily.
If it remains not good enough then fair enough.

I don't think you can blame the crowd, even though its been a terrible season whenever I've been there it's been rocking. It's gonna go quiet when we are getting trounced that's understandable but to blame the crowd is a copout imo. If anything our fans have been overly patient (talking matchday not forums obviously)

It would be interesting to see what effect a proper preseason would have.

Is there a massive difference between losing a preseason and one game?
