So if I am reading peoples opinions correctly, the consensus is that Geordan should move away from a direct coaching role, and be replaced on the training paddock by more experienced coaches I.e. Ford and Rowntree.

Geordan should concentrate on where his core skills lie, communication empathy and planning.

Happy with that it’s this Director of Rugby tag I don’t like as that to me indicates he would still have a role to play in coaching and selection.
The role that seems to be be suggested to him, in a none sporting context, is more of a HR/PR role

What does everyone think of a potential Rowntree,Haig,Murphy,Ford,Stanko team? If Stanko was scrum coach and Rowntree forwards what roles would the other 3 fit into? I do genuinely think Graham is nailed on to return, not 100% sure on Milton though.

Still see Graham Rowntree frequently in the Hinckley/Burbage area, I wouldn't be against seeing him back but I wouldn't want to loose Boris as a result.

It was interesting to hear Mike Tindall say on The House Of Rugby that he thinks there should be more individual positional coaches, with that in mind is this off season an opportunity for us to innovate rather than play catch up?

Don't think we would lose Boris,he would be specialist scrum coach, Graham forwards or perhaps head coach.

How would Haig fit in, currently he's an International head coach so would he come in under Murphy, Ford or Rowntree (somebody who he's currently the boss of)

I'd be very happy with Haig and Rowntree taking on field duties.

Rowntree could oversee forward coaching for the first team with Brett taking on the academy and development. Then Stanko can remain scrum coach across the whole set-up. From what I've heard Boris is a terrific coach with the younger forwards.

Smurf - Off field DOR taking on recruitment (looking better with Geordie in charge) and rebuilding the academy to senior squad pathway (Geordie did well with the academy and A-team)

Haig - Head coach - Taking first team duties
Wig - Forwards coach
Ford - Defence coach
Stanko - Scrum coach

Smith - Academy head coach
Brett Deacon and Tom Harrison - Assistant academy coaches

Why don’t we just give Murphy a chance with the signings he’s making?

Because Murphy hasnt showed anything (as HC or skills/backs coach) that he's a progressive coach. I'll give you a similar comparison although a totally different environment. I used to work in the warehouse sector, shop floor. The warehouse manager was more of a hindrance when having to work with the lads (days off, holiday cover etc) I was better in every department UK despatch, exports, goods in etc but one thing that he absolutely excelled in was knitting all the departments together and being the middle man between staff and directors. Why can't Geordie fulfill that role?

He could fulfil it but I just feel now he is starting to get the players he wants, it would be wrong to “replace” him. Cohen has already stated it’s a 3 year cycle in regards to moving players on and bringing in new ones so I feel we need to give him that time.

1989tiger, give him 3 years?

Compare our recruitment with what we see the (formerly) weaker clubs are doing, and we could well be at the bottom again next year, with the added burden of a coaching team that has yet to work out how it will work!

There is no substitute for experience, and a break from the past, and experience is what we need.

Taufua, Lavanini and pretty much confirmed Liebenburg. What’s wrong with those? There’s still more to be announced too.

If we bring someone else in, they will want their own players so we will have the same thing happen.

The Rowntrees themselves still live in the Burbage area.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

That's exactly why it won't be Chieka. It will just be Mike Ford retained and Bakewell/Blake replaced.

I really think the club needs stability but admit the signings so far( when you look at the stats: not a 5 minute video exert) compared to what Sale, Irish and other clubs are signing. If Denton and TV’s careers may be over then we have huge problems. We had a very good coach in Cockerill who was never given the backing by The Board that had become concerned with the losses we were making. I can only judge Geordan when he has a full, highly qualified team behind him. I think it was George Chuter who said, “ Tigers have an A4 sheet of paper for recruitment where other clubs have pages of analytical info( spreadsheets).”
