With the fact that this season we have struggled with quality squad depth, it concerns me that 19 players are confirmed to be leaving with a further 4 rumoured and we have currently only made 7 signings

There will be some replacements from existing development/youth players, it’s what successful teams do and what we should have been doing for the past 3 or 4 seasons

Nothing is certain until the club confirms. Rumoured signings are just that, rumours.

19 out 3 of which are Injury signings.
So really 16.

7 in confirmed + 6 Academy promotions.

So why mentioned the further 4 rumoured leavers and not the rumoured joiners?

Agreed if they are good enough otherwise its just a huge gamble.

given the complaints about a lack of depth I see this amount of departures as a necessary blood letting, the only way to add the depth is to free up the squad & cap space

Totally agree but I think a lot of the youngsters have the skill set and physical capability it’s the experience that is missing

And the only way to get experience is to play.

'Class of 2019' is a funny way to term a load of lads getting their P45s, I really do wish the club would stop trying to put a smiley face on everything and just let the facts stand as they are. Probably why nobody's trying to hire me as a social media manager.

Mark62 wrote: Wed May 15, 2019 7:10 pm Looking at RBS list there is a maximum of one development player in any one position, none in some.
Agree some strengthening required but the beauty of next season is that the earlier running of the premiership cup means players can be tried out at a competitive level.
Of course RB's list doesn't include the players that will be promoted to the Development Squad for this season. I'm assuming Sam Aspland-Robinson will be stepping up to the Senior Squad too (not on ze list).

I’d imagine that the following will be promoted to senior squad:
  • Heyes
  • Lewis
  • Reffell
  • Simmons
  • White
  • Hardwick
  • Aspland-Robinson
  • J.Olowofela
That’s 8 promotions plus 7 Signings which makes 15 leaving a few more signing to come in, still waiting for a surprise!

From my point of view this will free up some much needed salary cap and may help to sign a bit more quality. There is still plenty of time for more signings and hopefully not journeymen. Maybe we could have kept a couple BOC for one but he'd be on a good salary, has been a bit injury prone recently and is getting no younger. We also need to bear in mind that those who were part of the Academy this season will probably have been offered improved contracts.
I await the close season with interest and look forward to any announcements of signings as in some areas its still needed.

Matt Smith
Mat Tait

Graham Kitchener
Mike Williams
Will Evans
Brendan O'Connor
Valentino Mapapalangi
Joe Ford
Fred Tuilagi
Charlie Thacker
Gareth Owen
Mike Fitzgerald
Campese Ma'afu
David Feao
Ross McMillan
Harry Mahoney
Leonardo Sarto
Clayton Blommetjies

Getting rid of a lot of dead weight from the looks of it.
I am just surprised they did not include Ged Glynn and Phil Blake in this clear out or are they savoring another big announcement? I hope we can attract Clayton Bojangles back once his Welsh contract expires, sorry to see Fred Tuilagi go when he was just developing into a "Henry", wonder if Joe Ford will go to Amersham?
To the world you may be just one person.
But to that one person you may be the world!
