Been a tigers supporter for so many years, Nothing at this time for me is a victory, this is the lowest of the lowest, fighting for survival with a squad of quality players, many internationals, world class in May, Ford, were now hoping Newcastle fail against Glaws which they will, sad times and I honestly don’t see any future or direction with the current set up, a fresh set up in all aspects is required, sadly the current coaching staff need to go, the turn to the ex-tiger experiment is done and dusted, time to look further afield, a Gatland, Edwards even Eddie Jones after the World Cup, someone with a pair who is going to demand a 100% performance week in week out and have a plan, currently the self destruct button and implosion is a constant theme #tigerstilltheendDangerous4 wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 11:54 pm Just back from the game, ( a tad the worse for wear ).
This was a bitter sweet occasion. It looked like it was all over, and no points, and I felt gutted. Then that so very important moment at the end. The defeat suddenly felt like a victory, and the pressure is now like a mountain to climb for Newcastle, I would imagine. Our problems remain, clearly, but at least we put up a fight.
All eyes now on the Gloucester game.

Re: Quins vs Tigers
On the up side we did enough to probably secure safety, on the down side we're unlikely to be able to secure replacements for the dullards in the coaches box before the end of the WC which means another wasted pre-season and more of this tripe passed off as professional sport. I'd be sparing in my scorn out of love for GM if I'd seen something worth appreciating but it's just abject, week in week out. Do none of these lads even watch other teams play and realise there's another route other than perpendicular lines into a set defence? There's a sort of tragic irony in the fact that our fate is now in the hands of the coach we should have hired in the first place!
Re: Quins vs Tigers
No - I agree. That's my point. We have been so utterly dire, if Aunty Dot who pours the tea at half time and her best friend Polly are available to do some coaching they are bound to be better. My only concern is what will happen in pre-season. I can see the current panel giving out bacon butties for breakfast and burgers and chips for lunch on a daily basis, to ensure we are bigger next year than we were this. Meanwhile if we never ever see a few of the players again, it will be too soon. Quins had 36 points last year.sapajo wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 10:29 pmTraveller wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 10:23 pm Strange, for all my criticism of the BOD, Cohen, Glynn, the quality of coaching, and the attitude of a handful or more of the players, I'm quite optimistic (if we can avoid the drop) about next year. The solutions to the problems on the pitch are straightforward enough. They need a competent coaching team (that can be sorted out), the back five is the weakest in the premiership (there or there about) so that is down to recruitment.
However IF we can get some decent coaches in, and the recruitment for next year, shapes up to be along the lines of what is being reported in the press, we will be significantly better. We won't challenge for the title, but 4-6 will not be beyond us. It's only two years ago that Gloucester finished on 9th on 46 points. Last year Newcastle finished on 63. On the field from 3-8/9 things can turn around pretty quickly. We just can't be worse. The fact that it is a World Cup year will be disruptive for everyone.
The only problem is that it will let the BOD off the hook.
Yep but it's hard not to be optimistic on improving upon either relegation or finishing second to bottom in the premiership!!! The truth is if we survive it means the failed BOD and Coaches survive to coach the same old rugby but with different players serving it up next year!
Re: Quins vs Tigers
Yep should've brought in proper coaches and/or replaced Cockers with a hard nut DOR.

Most of which were completely individual, has Glasgow been completely erased from your memory? Plus our defence used to part like the red sea then!

My favourite moment of the game. Ben Kay in commentary “Dombrandt is really growing into this game and is increasingly prominent” ......he’s being replaced !!!!WhitecapTiger wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 9:15 pm Turnover ball, great by Genge, and our lot are so asleep they get in Veainu's way trying to get out of defence.
Somehow Quins have a comedy moment and we get a penalty to clear lines.
Dombrandt off for Quins - Kunatani on.
A word on Aspland-Robinson. When he came into the first team squad, he looked a bit rabbit in headlights, but has improved and last night was his best game for us. Very busy and looked threatening.

I agree with a lot of what you say........but. Back 5 weakest in premiership? Given the luxury of first choices, it's surely one of the best? Unless of course you mean D-H, in which case barring perhaps one, you're right. Even then first choices have been limited. The main thrust though is 100%. We all love GM as a player and a bloke, but he was set up to fall. When a huge department store needs a new chief, they don't appoint the bloke who sold the most shirts the year before! He's nurtured for the future, not chucked to the Lions ( or tigers)
Re: Quins vs Tigers
For me Harrison sums up Leicester's problems - commitment excellent but limited talent . Can't kick , indecisive, always passes and no threat to the opposition - that's probably why he's not been able to nail down a 1st choice spot in all the years he's been playing . Look at the other scrum halves around - De Klerk ,Reinach , Spencer ,Nic White , Care .They can do special things and regularly perform well for there Clubs unlike our No 1 choice YBY who rarely seems bothered when he plays for us . Why not give Simmons a go - he surely can't do any worse .
Re: Quins vs Tigers
Although those department stores usually employ people who have never worked 1 day in a department store in their life so have no idea what it's actually like but that's another topic all together!tigerssteve wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 8:54 amTraveller wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 5:24 amNo - I agree. I'm sure Simmons will get opportunities next season when our best scrum half is playing in the World Cup and Six Nations for England.MikeR wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 9:07 am For me Harrison sums up Leicester's problems - commitment excellent but limited talent . But he ought to be having a go now - the other 2 ahead of him are hardly producing the goods !

Youngs' game has suffered from the fact that there's been no serious competition for his shirt since David Mélé left.
