So if neither happens we shall never know? :smt003
:smt001 You maybe right though, the ones that haven't been announced yet might be dependent one which league we are playing in next season.

Great player and could have been a Tigers legend if he had stayed. We’ve sorely missed him and that says so much.
Amen to that. I can imagine what he and Thompson in tandem might do! A MOC exited player?
Rumoured that’s why he left. I rate him as highly as BOC but without the fitness issues. Also had good physicality as he isn’t the biggest bloke.

Always remember everyone moaning when we signed him. Then he pulled off a great offload in a preseason match and people’s opinions started to change.

Not the biggest bloke but very mobile. The problem for him was that MOC was behind the times and saw the bigger pack always being the better pack. It's certainly an area we are suffering in as we are woefully short on mobility and skillset at flanker, particularly in the 6 shirt.

If we recall it was at a time when the pack was starting to be pushed around and the mix of Cockerill and Mauger wasn't working, apart from LV Cup level.
Confusion over who to retain for the direction required leading to poor planning in retention and as it turns out they managed to make a mess of pretty much all of it, neither big or strong to dominate the tight enough or quick and mobile to open play enough.
Some high profile names would need to go in order for this to change either way in my opinion.

I always regarded Mcaffrey as not good enough, but looking back on my previous opinions I realise it was because he was forced to play 8 because originally Pearce was injured then Fonua didn’t want to show up then we had no No8s apart from Hamilton. If he’d had stayed as a 6 or a 7 then maybe my opinion would’ve have changed about him.

Very mobile and capable of playing the ball too. A kind of skill we've missed since he left.

I was sorry to see him go. Much quicker than most forwards we have had for a good length of time. It would be good to have him back if possible.

Over the time I have been observing this forum, I have learned that this sort of thing is going to get people asking "why are we signing a 35 year old?" alongside comments like "another journeyman". :smt003

Because in the recent past we appear to have captured a niche market for signing an archetype described as '35 year old journeymen'. The other important recruitment criteria seems to be that they must be rehabbing after serious medial ligament injuries. Maybe it's just 'in my mind' but the rehab normally lasts for two years - the length of their entire contract with Tigers. Talking of which, how is the Italian flier Sarto getting on? Whatever happened to Jerome Schuster? Have Laurence Pearce's knees now fully recovered? Has Tom Varndell officially left?

Don’t get all the negativity. Would be Thorn MK2 and someone we could build the pack around for next season. Granted would probably only be here for a season but we have plenty of young locks coming through.
