If Smith is retiring and taking over as a rugby head, I wonder if its at Oakham, from his Dad, is Dosser retiring? Adam Thompstone assured me, when talking to him in the Droglites, that he was well on the mend after his operation and would be back next season.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 4:48 pmViljeon I knew I was forgetting somebody. 13. Tuilagi, Taute
11/14. May, Holmes, Owolofela, SAR, Walker
Fullback. TV, Worth, Forsyth
Reid is obviously comfortable at flyhalf and Forsyth and SAR are happy at centre. We might see Smith cover the RWC period. There might be room for Bitrim as 10/12/15 cover. Depends whether Blommetjies comes in maybe as to how much cap space we want to spend on the backs. Young Steward is a 15 who could come into the centres, he's a big lad who has already made his first team debut at 18 but will be more of one for the the season after than next season.
Don't know about xfactor but Taute will offer some power in the carry, he's a pretty big bloke. He might still be able to cover 15 a bit as well.
I expect Smith will sign a one year extension. He's a reliable squad player who doesn't break the bank, covers both 12/13. He's also reliable in defence which is much needed currently.
Dangerous4, there's rumours that Thompstone might be retiring as well. He's had a pretty nasty injury this season and he's not had the best of luck previously.

I think Smith said on the Rugby Show - on the wireless - that he intended to carry on next season.

"on the wireless???" What is a "wireless?" Has it got wires, less wires or no wires? or has it a trans sister?Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:52 pm I think Smith said on the Rugby Show - on the wireless - that he intended to carry on next season.

Excellent news that Thompstone will be back. Underrated player, particularly his cover defence (could have used that this season).LE18 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:40 pmIf Smith is retiring and taking over as a rugby head, I wonder if its at Oakham, from his Dad, is Dosser retiring? Hope so. I expected that if he was fit he'd cover the world cup period but I had heard strong rumours of him retiring for said rugby post as well. If he's got one more year in him then that would help with the transition of the development players.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:52 pm I think Smith said on the Rugby Show - on the wireless - that he intended to carry on next season.

Oh dear. Thompstone will be badly missed. Another player who gives his all.

I was at Glos v Quins A League game. Glos too strong but Luke Wallace played and didn’t do a great deal. Hopefully just a blip.

Well, C.B. has done himself a great deal of good today. He may well be staying with us now.
Put him in the next Premiership game, methinks.

Has to start after scoring 3,that way the two Matt's can start at centre. Owen is a bust!

Olowofela’s been playing a lot of rugby this season, so I wonder if we’ll see a back three of May and Blommetjies, with Veainu at 15 (if considered fit enough)?Dangerous4 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 6:18 pm Well, C.B. has done himself a great deal of good today. He may well be staying with us now.

A May/Blommetjies/Veainu back three seems like like a no brainer for next week. They may be lacking a little match fitness, but they're pure class and we can have Jordan/SAR on the bench.Hot_Charlie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 6:45 pmOlowofela’s been playing a lot of rugby this season, so I wonder if we’ll see a back three of May and Blommetjies, with Veainu at 15 (if considered fit enough)?Dangerous4 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 6:18 pm Well, C.B. has done himself a great deal of good today. I'm not sure if I'd play Blommetjies or Veainu at 15 - my instinct is Blommetjies as Veainu's positioning is poor, but the fact they played Blommetjies on the wing today suggest they have other ideas.

Re: Development v Saints
Maybe. We did have Steward starting though and he's a specialist 15 (think he may have played 13 in the past, not really a winger/15). Lad is a proper unit as well, should be one to watch. I may be wrong but I thought that TV replaced the other winger so TV and CB both played on the wing.BG01 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 8:04 pmA May/Blommetjies/Veainu back three seems like like a no brainer for next week.
