It did but I still think we should have held on to him.

Betham started very well for us, but his form did dip quite badly.

Can see Tigers signing 3 or 4 more centers regardless of Manu staying or not.

Goodhue's twin brother would be a good signing. Would provide good value 2nd row, if Fitz is leaving.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

That would suggest you expect Eastmond to go along with Toomua and Owen RBRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 4:41 pm Can see Tigers signing 3 or 4 more centers regardless of Manu staying or not.

Not necessarily, Tait and Smith could be hanging up their boots.Mark62 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:01 pmThat would suggest you expect Eastmond to go along with Toomua and Owen RBRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 4:41 pm Can see Tigers signing 3 or 4 more centers regardless of Manu staying or not.

For the amount they’ve played you would expect them to be replaced by development playersJP14 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:11 pmNot necessarily, Tait and Smith could be hanging up their boots.Mark62 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:01 pmThat would suggest you expect Eastmond to go along with Toomua and Owen RBRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 4:41 pm Can see Tigers signing 3 or 4 more centers regardless of Manu staying or not.

Which development players though?
We have no centers in the development squad.

Tait and Smith being injured definitely hasn’t helped in these international periods. So would expect them to be replaced with quality players like Reid and Taute who can do a job for us when the international players are away.
Last season Tait and Smith stepped into the team seamlessly when required and delivered. That’s been missing sadly by Owen and in some respects Eastmond, although he’s a talented player and has also put in some good performances.

I think Worth is the natural replacement for Tait at fullback who could cover centre. As for Smith possibly Olowofela although I’ve not seen him play centre possibly also Aspland-Robinson although again I’ve not seen a lot of him.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:32 pm Which development players though?

Charlie Thacker although I appreciate he is hardly development and Tait has hardly played centre therefore Worth and SARRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:32 pm Which development players though?

IMHO it would be a waste of resources replacing 2 players who have become squad players with signings, this is where developing players should be used

Worth and Thacker are already in the seniors.

I used development incorrectly I should have said less experienced.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:46 pmMark62 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:40 pmCharlie Thacker although I appreciate he is hardly development and Tait has hardly played centre therefore Worth and SARRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:32 pm Which development players though?

Either way I don’t think players should be brought in to replace Smith and Tait these should come from existing squad members

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5
Betham seemed to suffer going back to his normal position on the wing! His outside break did us wonders that year playing at 13.
You do wonder if Locky had started the ERCC semi final at 8, rather than trying to match size with size and (sadly on the day, fumbling) Fonua, we’d have had a trip to Lyon for the final.
