@BrendanFanning

Noel Reid leaving @leinsterrugby for @LeicesterTigers at the end of the season. Not the first to beat that path. With Conor O'Brien getting a senior contract the hole is pretty much filled

Good piece of business. Classy player who can cover 10 and 12. With the rumours of Smith and Tait retiring end of the season, probably like for like in terms of salary.

I'd be surprised if Smith or Tait where here next season, maybe a month or two at the start as RWC cover but no more.

Reid is probably the direct replacement for Toomua but on squad player wages so we have a marquee spot ready for a forward. Reid is a good player, looking for ward to seeing what he's got.

Wouldn't you say Taute is Toomuas replacement with Reid 10/12 cover?

Would Reid covering 10/12 not make him Toomua's replacement? Taute will likely replace Owen who is apparently going to Falcons. Expect it's hoped that Taute will rotate with Manu at 13 and offer a good bench option in big games as he can cover full back if required.

12.Eastmond, Reid
13.Tuilagi, Taute

That would be the basis of good centre options with a bit of versatility as well. Add in Hardwick as a 12 option plus Worth covering 13.

I'm happy with that if it frees cap space for sufficient improvements in the pack.

I thought people might be interested in seeing 'Average Salaries By Position' in the Premiership and Pro12 for 2016/17.

https://www.ruck.co.uk/rugby-unions-ave ... -position/

Some of the rankings are odd to say the least - how the Pro12 values the T/H the least valuable is beyond me! Interesting though that both leagues place considerable emphasis on the locks - as do many of us!

Taute has played 12 but would expect him to be used more as the cover for Manu that we need. An experienced option at full back would be nice given TV and Holmes are so dangerous as wing options. I knows he's played full back less since the knee injury but it's all good options.

Is anyone aware of whether Eastmond is in contract next season?

I think Taute is comfortable at 12, 13 and 15 though I think he plays less 15 these days.

Gives us some good options with Worth also able to play 10, 12, 13 and 15. Aspland-Robinson and Owolofela able to play 11, 13, 14 and 15. Hardwick comfortable at 10 and 12. I think Reid can also slot in at 13 as well as 10 and 12.

Lots of cover from the squad.

With everyone fit I imagine Taute will be our starting 12. Big unit who also has good leadership qualities.

However, he doesn’t have the best fitness record so could rotate with Reid. When the internationals are playing we’ll still have a backline of:

9. Harrison
10. Reid
11. Olowofela
12. Eastmond
13. Taute
14. Thompstone
15. Worth

I'd like to see more of Simmonds/Worth at 9 and 10,they excited me in the LV Cup last season. I'd still like to see Simmonds at 15 though too.

I've seen a couple of comments on Twitter (so not reliable) saying Veainu is on the move next season. Veainu has 'liked' both comments.

Veaniu penned a new deal last season, so unless we only signed him to a one year deal, we'd have to "let" him go.
