What gets your goat in the rugby of today?

Post by Robespierre »

I'll not be alone with this gripe:

Referees correctly insist that in line-outs, hookers throw the ball in straight to ensure that the opposing side can compete for the ball, should they choose.
Why oh why does the set scrum not follow the same principle? In my younger playing days as a hooker you had a chance of a strike against the head, but today it's just an utter farce.

The snide holding on to an opponent as you won't get a slap these days, football style celebrations, shouting in an opponents face when they make an error.

Basically a lot if Itojes game.

Not necessary or rugby....don't forget the old phrase "Rugby a game for Hooligans played by gentlemen"
To win is not as important as playing with style!

I agree. When does one see any balls taken against the head in a scrum, by the other side? It used to happen, but not any more.

Social media experts who haven’t got a clue and can’t be bothered to read previous posts that would answer their question

It’s my opinion if you think that then cool, I don’t like either of BT’s commenators to be honest.

Compared to Butler they are a joy to listen to.
As you say it’s personal preference I couldn’t abide Bill McClaren a lot of the time. Other people thought he was a broadcasting genius
