Brilliant! (Hoping Manu doesn't get cited for that shoulder on Stockdale.)

Terrific by all. Jonny was fantastic, Manu and Ben really good. Farrell at 10 was the correct pick. Everyone had a really good game.

MoM had to be up front, it could've been anyone but Mako was fair enough in my opinion.
England's workrate was immense, a very strong performance.
I've always liked the idea of Manu at 12, as a potential field splitter, as a decoy, as a return to go, and it all seemed to work pretty well today, almost Barritt like outside Farrell who I also thought was excellent.

Mako made 25 tackles, it was his performance that stopped Ireland getting any forward momentum, good choice for MOTM.

Today also underlined the importance of chasing down kicks, even if it looks like a lost cause. I just wish Tigers would show the same attitude.

Only downside - Maro Itoje may have injured his medial ligament.

Manu attacked a lot whilst standing at 13. He defended at 12. It was clever use of the centres. Manu was there to take Aki and support Farrell with the big ball carriers.

Swapping them in attack was a great move. Allowed Manu to come back in on the angle and stop the Ireland drift in defence or make yards against arm tackles. Slade in behind to then spread the ball wide to the wings making the most of the the space Manu had corrected. I was worried that Farrell was just going to run Manu into brick walls with no imagination but they used him far more intelligently than that.

Apart from the yellow card and the early dull penalty, which gave Ireland field position and the end result of 3 points.

Irritated by mako try not given, wish Garces had been in charge for the Roberts “try” when we played Barff.

May excellent, manu destructive, great team performance and very happy! :smt001
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Real intensity by the whole team throughout the match was the best summary.

Not seen that since England went down to 13 men in New Zealand before they won the world cup in 2003. Hope that's an omen.

I thought England showed the sort of controlled passion and aggression so often lacking in them but so often displayed by other teams against us. It was great to see very good Irish players being driven back forcefully by the English defence time after time with Ireland losing ground and with it momentum. To be fair to BOD he admitted the scoreline flattered Ireland. England controlled the game for most of the 80 mins even when they were defending. We must not get ahead of ourselves though; that was one game and the next 80 mins is a fresh and different challenge.
