Re: Defence Coach
Phil Blake our defence coach until the end of the season and then with all the recent rumours about Mike Ford, could he join the club for next season in some capacity and look after the defence?
Here's the story suggesting Blake is only here until the end of the season initially.

Re: Defence Coach
The Mike Ford thing has been overdone. Murphy has said that he is a good friend of his and that they have coffee together quite a lot. And while out of work he obviously attends to watch his son play, Murphy said he couldn't see what position Ford would fill.
Re: Defence Coach
Don't believe everything that comes out of a sports persons mouth.
What role could Ford fill? The one I mentioned. Defence coach next season.

Re: Defence Coach
If we want continuity I would imagine Blake will be defence coach for the foreseeable future. The noise from the players is they’ve had enough of the coaching merry go round.
Re: Defence Coach
Maybe they want a familiar face to the players to join mid season but a new face could be slotted in better during pre season where he would implement new ideas.

I shall sit this one out on the fence.
Re: Defence Coach
So could be just training Deacs for next season? Or MF mulling over an offer for next season? Or Blake on "trial"?

Re: Defence Coach
Am I blind in missing short term contract?Phil Blake has re-joined Leicester Tigers as defence coach under head coach Geordan Murphy.
The 55-year-old Blake enjoyed a lengthy playing career in rugby league in Australia and has coached in both codes, including a previous spell with Leicester.
London-born Blake played rugby league for Australia Schools and then with clubs including Manly-Warringah, South Sydney and Auckland Warriors, ending his first-class career with 138 tries in 261 games. He also played in the State of Origin series with New South Wales.

An extensive coaching career included a spell at South Sydney Rabbitohs before a switch to rugby union where he has worked with Southern Districts and Western Force, as head coach at Manly and as defence and skills coach to Australia’s national squad before moving to England with Tigers and then Wasps.
Leicester Tigers head coach Murphy said: “It is no secret that we’ve been looking for the right person to come in and add to what we already have in the coaching team.
“We know Phil well, he knows what the club is all about and we believe he has a lot to offer in terms of experience and his all-round knowledge of the game.
“I look forward to working with him again alongside Mark Bakewell, Boris Stankovich, Brett Deacon, Anthony Allen and the rest of the staff here.”

In the Merc
"Phil Blake has come in on a short term contract with a view to trying to help out our defence and our coaching across the board," Murphy said.
"He is very experienced in rugby. He has been around for a long time and has done defences in a lot of different environments but has also very good with regards to sprinting and attack so he is a great addition for us.
"We felt that knowing him he would be comfortable coming in and contributing to the group very quickly."
