Dan du Preez was linked in the rugby paper and Jim Hamilton said he heard all 3 brothers might be coming.
Not the best in terms of reliable but Jim's best mate is brett so.

Cheers RB.

Not seen much (if any!) of Robert - but you'd have to say the other two would add required quality, and bulk!

Robert is a good AP level flyhalf but not a great one. He'd be a significant upgrade on Joe Ford but not likely to trouble George. He's a big lad as well so could do a job at 12.

Would depend on whether he's happy to play second fiddle. He could stay at Sale and be first choice.

With Kwagga Smith being talked about looking for a prem team, he would be a perfect signing IMO.
(Purely me talking speculation).

He'd be a quality signing. Presume as a replacement for BOC. If BOC is off to Japan as rumoured then I'd be tempted to promote Evans and Reffell as we've still got Thompson and that would free up a good lump of cash to help out reinforcement of the pack.

If Williams, Fitzgerald and Kitchener are all off as rumoured then we're going to need to recruit some heavyweight additions.

BOC >> Kwagga Smith
Williams >> D Du Preez
Toomua >> Kriel
J Ford >> R Du Preez
Kitchener >> RG Snyman
Mapapalagi >> J L Du Preez

THE SOUTH AFRICAN TAKEOVER IS COMPLETE

Less than 1% chance, but would be all for the above!

We'd have to offload a few more because as it stands those wouldn't be like for like in terms of salary cap.

Perhaps as they’re brothers we could get a three for one on marquee player? :smt003 :smt023

Manu out to Parts Foreign?

How "rumoured" is this rumour? Does anyone have a ballpark guess as to how likely this is?

BOC, Fitz, Williams and J Ford ----> Du Preez brothers

That trade off cap wise may work given that Robert would be on more than Joe. The twins wouldn't come cheap but would be worth the cash, especially for Jean-Luc.

I like BOC but I rate Evans even more highly. With Thompson signed-up and Reffell coming through the pack needs that depth elsewhere. Japan would be a good move for BOC in-terms of lengthening his career as well.

Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond:

On Sale's hopes of keeping Rob du Preez: "Negotiations are going well and we will probably be making around 10 to 12 announcements in the New Year of people who have signed and people who have re-signed, and Rob will hopefully be one of them. He's confident and he's good."
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

We really don't want to sign a lot of S.A.s, you cannot guarantee availability for the whole season.
Our entire recruitment policy for next season is rather tied up in Manu, both in terms of requirements & money. Getting that sorted/clarified is the priority.
We appear to have some potential coming through but its still a couple of seasons off the first XV.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

We cannot afford to let the youngsters work their way in when we have so many who havent cut the mustard. Sarries can do it because their Club gameplan is in their bloodline. Tigers simply dont have that luxury. Tuilagi is the key as we have wasted 4 years chasing his shadow. A few tough Africaaans or South Sea Islanders with fabric are required , basing team around Genge Holmes Veaninu Cole and Ford . Manu has to let us know asap his intentions, or rather Freddie does...
