So is the announcement of a DOR to be expected along with a defence specialist?

Doesn't sound like a DoR is in the offing.

"Geordan has his beliefs on what makes Tigers tick and how he wants that to work at Oval Park and at Welford Road"

If a DoR was in offing, surely it would them guiding how to make us tick?

Geordan appointed. We'll hire Dave Ellis whos not be involved in professional rugby since 2014 and he'll be deemed as both the defense coach and senior hand.

Ged Glynn will still be Head of Rugby Operations, and the rugby committee will still decide who to sign, even if the Head Coach doesn't want them.

I hope I'm wrong, because if I'm not Geordan may end the same way as Johnno.

DOR and Head Coaches tend to be different, Tigers just didn't realise that when they first tried it.
DOR usually back room stuff only. Head coach handles on field stuff.

Tigers had two head coaches with Cockers and Mauger hence why it didn't work.
Tigers currently have a young Head Coach and over-glorified Academy manage.......... Well you see where i'm going with this.

The option is their now should we want it.
Expect a defence coach will be announced soon though.

At one level a seemingly small change considering where we are at the moment, but it may be surprising just how much of a difference it makes.

Murphy is a great backs coach, nothing more... And the best spiral kick I've ever seen. But why oh why are the Board so blind to the obvious - the club is in disarray and uncles Cohen and Glynn are Teflon ..... Well falling season ticket revenues stick, fans in uproar sticks, worst run since 1975 sticks!! But it's ok we've got a great ex player still fumbling on and a Board of ex players (and a few others) still fumbling along.

I hope the waiters in the new hotel don't drop as many drinks as we've done points or the bar takings will also be in terminal decline!!

I for one really hope that Geordan does well, for him and the club, but worry if this is the right decision especially with the way the team is playing at the moment. GM has not been able to turn the team round as interim coach, why would he be able to do it as a permanent coach. That being said lets hope this is part of a master plan and those of us who worry are left eating our words.

Perhaps players were unsure of the future as they only had an interim head coach in charge. Maybe this could be the turning point.

Don’t really see what this addresses without further information regarding what the support package around him is going to be (assuming there is one).
Legend as he is, he needs help in rebuilding and re-defining the club. Hopefully there will be a response on the pitch.
Mourinho’s three year cycle has come to bear again - sadly, I don’t think we have that long.
I shall there on Saturday, though, giving him the biggest cheer of all. Fingers crossed.
