Anyone taking Betts

Post by Scuttle »

Just to copy from another post, according to Mail Online we held interviews today with Dennis Betts and Brad Davis about a defence coach role. Other interesting things in the piece about Simon Cohen and the player group.

This is supposed to be in support of GM

I thought we were speaking to Denis Betts last year too? I'm beginning to wonder if we do our negotiations by smoke signal :smt017

" It is thought that Cohen has sounded out several players individually this week and they have asked the club hierarchy to delay any appointment until after the weekend, with a view to a delegation from the squad seeking further talks with leading officials about the recruitment plans."

That sums up everything that is wrong at the moment

Neither would be classed as the experienced head though surely? Brad Davis has been around a bit, but Betts hasn't had a union coaching role since 2010?!

We need a senior guy who has experience of running a side, and to give Geordan the confidence to tell the board who he wants, not just nod when the board ask him if he wants someone.

Also, is Ged still at the club, because surely it should be our head of rugny operations deciding we need a new coach, not the CEO?

I think they are being sounded out about a defence coaching role.

Apparently one of them was signed and ready to come into the summer but O’Connor intervened and prevented it.

This all sounds suspiciously like Manchester United.

If the Senior Players are calling the shots, heaven help us.

And with absolutely no disrespect to Geordan, he has been in charge of certain aspects long enough for us to ship him off somewhere to learn the trade.---------and come back with a more experienced portfolio...

Just not here at Welford Road in the state we are in.

Simple to get Davis in and Mike Ford as consultant.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95

Wouldn’t be a bad idea would it? We need all the help we can get and both are experienced coaches.

The players should be there to play, not spend time having talks with officials about recruitment plans. Absolutely bonkers if true!

Clearly a huge lack of leadership above the players, otherwise this wouldn't be allowed to happen.

Well, it is of some comfort to see that Geordie might be getting some help. However, if this report is true, then it is indicative of what a mess this Club is in at the moment.
Who is making these decisions? Is it Tom and the rest of the Board, or Cohen, or Kay & Underwood, or Glynn, or Murphy, or the 'senior' players, or as seems a hot-potch committee of all of them? Maybe they should ask the fans to have a phone in vote and make a bit of cash out of the process?
It sort of mirrors what is happening on the pitch - a lack of direction and of firm leadership.

I think I would be more than happy with the comparison, if a man of the stamp of Sir Alex was at the helm. I think the tone of the posts over the last couple of seasons would be very different.

I despair the level of incompetence at all levels in Tigers is utterly staggering. Its crystal clear that the Board are incapable with the present incumbent incompetents of stopping the death watch beetle. Giving GM a long term contract is a risk to far and reeks of desperation, he must prove his ability not get rewarded for failure. Its time to sign a truly world class DOR nothing less will suffice but it would appear the board simply cannot grasp the severity of our plight and what must be done to halt it.
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity
