Surely Mike Williams - who has started there for us multiple times and was considered there for England?

Should be a good game, looking forward to it regardless of the potential result.

The only one who really impressed was Ackerman who isn't playing tomorrow. It is 15 v 15 and if we get it together we have a chance. Who would have predicted a one point difference in the All Black's game?
I actually predicted an England win, well at least I had a very small amount of money on them so I think that counts, but I agree it's 15 v 15, one poor tackle and it's 14 v 15, one poor ref and it's 16 v 15 mind... :smt025
I'd be more confident of the Glaws bottle emptying were Slater not about!

Our pack looks good, our backs average at best. Distinct weaknesses at 9, 10 and 15 IMO.

So we have to win the forward battle and get the ball out to Eastmond/Owen, then there might just be a glimmer, but I'm not betting any money on it!!

Think we might get blitzed and end up too far behind. :smt009

On a positive note: none of the backs are first choice ( though Thomo is one of my favourite Tigers who never lets us down) so if tomorrow’s team perform well it will be a huge bonus. Not many teams this week end with have their first choice 15, 14,12,13, 10 And 9 missing!
Come on TIGERS.

The shed web faithful trying desperately to convince themselves that they’re missing lots of players. Glos backline is at full strength, with only Marshall missing (always injured) - Trinder maybe but he’s on the bench. Forwards...only Ackerman, Polledri and Ludlow missing but that’s not necessarily their starters. Everyone else is starting or on the bench. Is it me or does this fixture always seem to fall in November !!? It would be nice to have a full strength side going to these games.

If there's ever a time for us to play the way we used to, tomorrow is it!

If we can make it a forwards orientated game, we will win. Our forwards are better than theirs. Use them to punish Gloucester at scrum time, get the penalties, kick the 3 points every time it's in a position that's kickable and when not, kick for the corner, win the lineout and power over the line.

I think he was considered at 6 for England as an alternative to Haskell. Robshaw playing at 7 in a time where Eddie was bemoaning England's lack of a natural openside.

We suffered greatly last season and in Cockers tenure when we filled the backrow with size instead of skill. Gloucester won't be bullied physically but can be targeted at the breakdown. Asking Thompson to put in a massive 80 minutes with no other backrow option offering much at the breakdown. If Thompson goes off a backrow of Fitzgerald, Williams and Kalamafoni will be taken to the cleaners. The only comfort is that Gloucester are short of their preferred breakdown specialists.

I doubt our forwards are they much better that they negate our much bigger deficit in the backs. Apart from anything else our kicker won't be able to slot anything less than straightforward. We'll do well to pull this one out the bag.

Individually and as a pack, our forwards are better. Yes, they clearly have a better backline than ours tonight which is why we must play a forward dominated game. We do that and we win.

Heinz/Cips vs White/Ford isn't even fair, underlining the absurdity of being asked to play important league games during the internationals. Hold on tight to the ball and hope for lots of scrums I suppose, otherwise we're going to get absolutely murdered.

It could have easily have been that Cips and Ford were flipped to be fair.

Some analysis by Fat Boy on the unoffy:

Here are the results for the regular league matches between us and Gloucester at the shed in every season we won the premiership - with Gloucester's position in the regular league in brackets as indication of their form. Starred games played during an international window.

1998-1999: Gloucester 18 – 23 Tigers (10th)
1999-2000: Gloucester 34 – 6 Tigers (3rd)
2000-2001: Gloucester 22 – 13 Tigers (7th)
2001-2002: Gloucester 18 – 40 Tigers (3rd)
2006-2007: Gloucester 28 – 24 Tigers* (1st)
2008-2009: Gloucester 8 – 20 Tigers (6th)
2009-2010: Gloucester 12 – 9 Tigers* (7th)
2012-2013: Gloucester 27 – 21 Tigers (5th)

5 losses, 3 wins

His argument being that winning at Gloucester is no barometer to our overall season.

I might dig out the rest of the series later.

Not sure if serious?

2 problems:-
a) our lineout is carp
b) our driving maul is even carper :smt017
