Matt Toomua

Post by Jacko27 »

Anyone know if MT got off the bench in this weekend's Australia/Argentina match? He didn't get a mention in the reports that I've read, suggesting he didn't get on the pitch. If so he should be fit, fresh and raring to go for us this week.

He came on at between 73 and 75 minutes I think. So yes he should be pretty fresh (apart from the jetlag).

I'd have him in the 22 shirt to cover 10 and 12, rather than forcing him in and having yet another new centre combo.
Never believe generalisations

Hopefully he will have flown straight back fro northern Argentina rather than Via Australia which will lessen the jet lag considerably

Do we know that they are both definitely coming back before the NZ game?

TPN has been back a week or so, struggling a bit with a hamstring but hopefully should be ok for Ulster

That is a pre tour warm up for both before arriving in the northern hemisphere I assume in Japan to help with World Cup build up.
Not sure either would be expected to fly to Japan to fly back to the uk but after these 2 European fixtures our next premiership fixture isn’t till November 16th anyway

That's why I asked the question, did anyone know if they were coming back before this match, or will they be omitted from the squad?

I believe it says on tigers website Toomua is back, as he isn’t able to play that game as it falls outside the international window, so should be available for selection.

Yeah pretty sure the 3rd Bledisloe Cup fixture is outside the test window so Toomua should be back.
