Tigers v Sale

Post by WirralExile »

So, as we can’t change the past, what team do we think we will or should put out against Sale next Sunday?
We seem to picking up a growing injury and others who aren’t “available” list that will restrict options, including:
YBY
Manu
Kyle
Thompstone (will he be fit?)
Spencer
Toomua
TPN
Jimmy Stevens
Telusa

I would not be so sure that Youngs and Manu will be unavailable..........they may have been withdrawn from the England traing camp as a precaution, having a niggle.
Veanu may be back if he has come through HIA processes.

Veainu should play, and I reckon Youngs and Manu will be fit still.

If Youngs isn't fit then we are only left with White as the only fit senior scrum half.

I’m not sure Telusa will be available, after a concussion there are Return to Play protocols to follow. As far as I know, this is 2 weeks rest symptom free, clearance by a doctor etc. A link on the rfu website suggests 19 days minimum. Given that he was injured against Wasps last Sunday, next Sunday against Sale would be too soon.

Wouldn't play the Young brothers or Tuilagi as I see them as the weak link in the team at the moment, as I've said before I believe those above and maybe Cole have too much influence on our coaching staff who are not strong enough to confront them and pull them back in line.

Harrison may be back in consideration.

Tigers can't lose this one as Sale look even worse.
Everything will be alright again, Mavis9 can go on the Tigers To Be Crowned Premiership Champions topic and tell everyone that she told them so, a Young'un will tell us it's all back on track and Diamond will blame the ref, all back to normal!

Sorry my U13s team have a match on Sunday morning so are likely to be too tired to play in the afternoon! :smt003

We did a lot of work with them on the breakdown at training yesterday; their passing skills are good and their decision making is improving too.

Not sure those protocols apply where the club/player has been through the HI testing process where they compare to pre-season scores.

However I would hope they don't rush him given his previous lengthy spells out with concussion.

I tried that belittling tactic for the Worcester game but it kinda backfired :smt018 :smt009 :smt003 :smt002

Not sure that is quite right (and I don't know the rules for sure) but Charlie Sharples was concussed / HIA the other weekend and was back playing within 6 days. Passed all the protocols.

I thought going into yesterday's game against Wuss, that "Tigers can't lose this one", given we were playing a team nailed to the bottom of the table with a three game losing streak. With yesterday's 5 points, they are now only one point below us.
I'm not sure Sale are that much worse than Tigers, if we hadn't gathered the 5 bonus points we'd be a place above them in the table, but only because they have a worse points difference.

Our tackling has to improve massively - we have to stop standing back from the ball carrier.

With regards to HIA Protocol, a player needs to go 7 days clear without showing any symptons and can then be free to play.........the recovery time can vary but this is a guideline.

This link?

https://www.englandrugby.com/mm/Documen ... eutral.pdf

If you scroll down it refers to Return to Play Pathway in an Enhanced Care Setting

In some circumstances (such as Professional clubs and Rugby Academies) there is a doctor
with training and experience in the management of concussion/traumatic brain injury
available to closely supervise the player’s care and GRTP, and clear the player prior to RTP.
In these instances, a shortened timeframe for RTP is possible, but only under strict
supervision by the appropriate medical experts as part of a structured concussion
management programme. In these circumstances ONLY, the following RTP pathway can be
followed:

Diagram on link is shown (can't copy to here) and it says the earliest RTP is 6 Days

It must be emphasised again, that these are minimum return to play times and in
players who do not recover fully within these timeframes, these will need to be longer.
Criteria for an Enhanced Care Setting:
1. There is a doctor with training and experience in the management of
concussion/traumatic brain injury available to closely supervise the player’s care and
GRTP, and clear the player prior to RTP.
and
2. There is a structured concussion management programme in place including:
a. Baseline SCAT 3 and/or Computerised Psychometric/Cognitive testing of
players.
b. Clinical serial multimodal concussion assessment of players post head impact
event.
c. Formalised GRTP programme with regular SCAT 3 or equivalent
assessments recorded in players’ medical records.
d. Access to neuropsychology/neurology/neurosurgery specialists if required
e. Formal concussion education programme for coaches and players.

trying to recall an example but I'm pretty sure I've seen players return on a similar timescale, if not quicker.

Wouldn't Tigers qualify as an Enhanced Care Setting?

Not sure, genuine question.
