Re: Who would you like to see as the new DOR / Head Coach?
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
Re: The next New Head Coach / DOR?
Ben Kay just pretty much said the job is Murphy's unless anything horrific happens.

Re: The next New Head Coach / DOR?
Ideally - Jamie Joseph & Tony Brown. They did a great job at the Highlanders, ultimately taking them to the Super Rugby title. Joseph turned a pack without any major stars into a hugely fierce and competive unit. Then Brown added some real flair and cutting edge to the backline. But would they leave the dual role of Sunwolves & Japan.
Reality - just add an experienced coach to the setup to give Murphy a hand in the short term. Rowtree obviously leaps out, available, ex Tiger, coached both in the Premiership and also internationally, but would his presence make Bakewell or Stanko redundant? Maybe someone like Wayne Smith, or Robbie Deans, but would that in turn create instability for Murphy?
It's a delicate balance. With Murphy elevated as head coach, do you need to backfill him like for like in the setup with an attack/skills assistant? Or do they just end up treading on each others toes trying to implement attacking ideas? Equally, would trying to add the balance of a forward coach alongside Murphy just impact on Bakewell and Boris? So are we better going with what we have.
As an outside the box appointment, I'd not necessarily be against poaching some assistant coaches like Hepher and Hunter from Exeter, see if they can add some of the old school Tigers approach that Exeter seem to be replicating so well. Alternatively, would Alex Sanderson fancy stepping out of the background at Sarries? Arguably are these guys any more experienced than Murphy, probably not, but they do have proven input into (currently) more successful sides.

This is Murphy’s gig to run with - if you bring anybody in it must be under him. We have to find out if he’s capable and there’s only one way to do that - just as we did with Deano and Cockers. Sounds like the game plan will change and the shackles will be off the coaches. I’m really looking forward to this weekend

For me
Venter
Mitchell
Would fit in with the current setup of coaches relatively well.
Both would fit in with helping mainly Defence but also both have a lot of experience.
Also both will have plenty of Player contacts especially in SA.

Dai Young was one game from winning the Premiership season before last. That would have given him the same number of pots as Rob Baxter who some on here appear to regard as the new Messiah in spite of his ropey record in Europe.
Anyway, time to get behind Geordan whose tenure now appears to be season long instead of weeks, as initially quoted.

Is that because he "gets up your nose" RB?
To the world you may be just one person.
But to that one person you may be the world!

He was shown picking his nose and Eating it on BT in what has to be one of the best timing's in rugby history.

It was absolutely hilarious, Healey couldn't control his laughter in the commentary box, Vesty will be taking some serious stick on social media I've no doubt....shame I don't use it, will have to ask one of my boys to enlighten me!!RagingBull wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 9:33 pmHe was shown picking his nose and Eating it on BT in what has to be one of the best timing's in rugby history.

Let’s hope Murphy does the job. Gerard Meagher in the Guardian does have a point however

I guess time will tell if we’re following the likes of Saints and Glaws

The difference is that neither Glos nor the Saints never consistently achieved the heights Tigers did between 2001 and 2013.markharbtiger wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 9:36 am Let’s hope Murphy does the job. Gerard Meagher in the Guardian does have a point however

Gibson or Rowntree would both be good shouts IMO. They were both part of the successful times at the club so will understand the expectations and required results and, importantly, have bolstered their CVs away form the club.

Austin suggesting Leon Lloyd as a General Manager type role.
