For all the criticism of Ford, and I've had plenty, Owen Slot in the Times says that he was instructed to kick at every opportunity when we had possession. That was M O'Cs plan apparently. Slot says that in the post match interview O'C made the "remarkable admission" that they had not been ready for the opening day of the season. Four players had not featured in the pre-season and the TEAM were not match fit. Two weeks late back from holiday and he delivers that. Good riddance.

Well if the opinion was that too many players were not match fit then kicking the ball off the park makes sense.
It also might've been slightly better if those kicks found touch more instead of Exeter's back three, and only then if the line out functioned properly.
You have to question the pre-season fixture list, was it adequate!
Often in the past Leicester have played double headers to give the wider squad game time.
Everyone seems to want the youngsters playing more, well if they play then it's less matches for the rest if the fixtures aren't there.
There are clearly a few genuine injury worries and in my opinion quite a bit of overprotecting mental baggage being carried regarding past injuries.
The younger group were given the chance to shine but got a bit of a forward mauling off Treviso and then there was a sudden realisation that they would not cope at Exeter to the point it was probably dangerous to play them and Leicester got caught out big time, but it is clearly not all one coaches fault!

It is certainly not just MoC's fault. The other coaches have to take responsibility.
However, I am concerned that it is evident some players are not fit, let alone match fit If you compare them to Exeter, well there is no comparison.
Geordan certainly has a difficult task ahead!

we have weak pre season games every year and we have lost the opening games of the past 2 Seasons because of that , and also because our Coach has chosen not to play his 1st team in most of the time available . It is a joke that a so called professional club should behave in that way .

Just for the record, the report was Alex Lowe's not Owen Slot who appeared to be watching a better game at Ealing

When Ben said on RT that MC was not on the original short list but approached the club himself - what does that say about those putting the short list together in the first place?? Our "world wide search" did not result in anything at all so who was in charge of the "search"???

I imagine the consultants we used didn't have him on the list because they had looked at his previous track record!

For the record I thought Ben fronted up really well, and was also nice to see some passion from Austin.

Ellis is just hilarious
