Tigers v Falcons
You have to be careful not to overestimate the importance of one game but it's hard to imagine MOC surviving a defeat. After losing to Falcons at the end of last season and our performance on Saturday at Sandy Park you would imagine the Falcons management licking their lips at the prospect of visiting Welford Road. Like many of us I am not quite sure what I want to happen. A win could pave the way to another mediocre season. A defeat would be painful but perhaps of long term benefit?

Young Strawclearer and I will be in our usual seats at the back of the Crumbie on half-way. A repeat performance of last weekend's shambles will doubtless produce 'words' directed at the Coach.ourla wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 11:14 am You have to be careful not to overestimate the importance of one game but it's hard to imagine MOC surviving a defeat. Nah. Tried one of those skin-tight shirts on. It wasn't good

Re: Tigers v Falcons
In my opinion, a Tigers’ win would only put back the inevitable parting of the ways with O’Connor. A new broom is what’s needed, and the sooner the better. Tigers have the players but they are far from their full potential. Will the Board please do the necessary now to avoid further embarrassment and get this club back on the road to where it should be.

Re: Tigers v Falcons
Fully expecting us to lose to Newcastle and Wasps away, but to then beat Worcester. Then a loss to Sale, Saints and Ulster only to win against Scarlets. Never thought I'd rock up to Welford Road fully expecting to lose, especially to Newcastle, but this is not the fortress it once was.
On that basis, I'm fully expecting the following line up from O'Connor.
15. Telusa Veaniu
14. Adam Thompstone (I'd pick Holmes)
13. Manu Tuilagi
12. Kyle Eastmond
11. Jonny May
10. George Ford
9. Ben Youngs
1. Greg Bateman
2. Tom Youngs
3. Dan Cole
4. Mike Fitzgerald (I'd plump for Wells)
5. Will Spencer
6. Dave Denton
7. Brendan O'Connor (I'd go with Reffell)
8. Sione Kalamafoni
16. Ross McMillan
17. David Fae'o
18. Gaston Cortes
19. Harry Wells
20. Mike Williams
21. Sam Harrison
22. Joe Ford (I'd go Hardwick)
23. Mat Tait (I'd go for Olowofela, and actually use him)

Reckon it will be
1. Bateman
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Fitzgerald
5. Spencer (Hopefully fit)
6. Denton
7. BOC
8. Kalamafoni
9. Youngs
10. Ford
11. May
12. Eastmond
13. Tuilagi
14. Thompstone
15. Veainu
16. Stevens
17. Ma'afu
18. Faeo
19. Wells
20. Williams
21. Harrison
22. Hardwick

Cortes has been called up
Stevens seemed to be 3rd choice in Pre-season.
Joe Ford is starting tonight which leads me to believe Hardwick will be on the bench.
I think Tait might not be fully fit still.

Re: Tigers v Falcons
Clearly what the 23 is a little bit secondary at the moment as it's not a personnel issue but a fitness/coaching/tactical/preparedness issue.
It's hard to predict but my best guess is that because we are at home, as good as Newcastle are they are not Exeter or Sarries, because the coaches/players will be hurting and because we can only improve that we will put in a half decent performance and possibly nick it.
Good for no one I suspect but that's the way these things work.

Re: Tigers v Falcons
As bad as we were and good as Exeter, they were streets ahead of any other team this weekend, were people really that impressed with Falcons.
Not one try scored from open play, both scored from defensive lapses by Saracens, they got nothing against a, by their standards poor Saracens side, at home.
If Tigers can’t get at least a win at home against them, not only should MOC go but the whole coaching and playing squads should be put on the market.
For the record I think it will be the same starting 15 depending on Spencers fitness, with Eastmond in for a very poor Toomua and possibly Olowefela in for Thompstone

I would certainly hope we don’t forget to post a guard and bodyguard at the rucks.
