I would back him to be first choice at a few clubs.
Sale also linked to him.

Will Smith be the automatic first choice if Demetri Catrakilis is fit for next season? Might be more rotation between the two, which would be no bad thing for Smith, with Catrakilis's game management helping curb the headless chicken approach displayed by Quins for most of last season.

James Wilson has posted that he has left bath.

Mods, this is a very long outdated thread, does it need some pruning/updating?

I got the impression that when we were after GF, that Bath were interested in Freddie and that he weas "encouraged" by Tigers and Bath to go to Bath. From what I remember of Freddie's reaction, he was not the instigator of his move.

We where after Ford, Bath didn't want him to go without compensation so we either paid the full amount or they would knock some money off if they could get burns without any comp.
We signed Ford regardless and then gave Burns the option and he took it, nothing wrong with that and don't blame him, but he could have stayed.

Could Freddie have stayed? Is that correct? I heard he was categorically told he was going and left with no choice. Does anyone really know the truth?

Yes, Freddie said multiple times that it was basically his choice to move.Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 12:47 pm Could Freddie have stayed? Is that correct? I heard he was categorically told he was going and left with no choice. Does anyone really know the truth?
Though he felt that he needed to move because he didn't feel he was going to get a fair chance of playing because of how hard we tried to get Ford.

So he wouldn't have got a fair crack of the whip anyway by the sounds of it. The proof is in the pudding here and now anyway with George guaranteed the 10 shirt whatever.

Well that speculation though, who knows what might have happened.Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 1:07 pm So he wouldn't have got a fair crack of the whip anyway by the sounds of it. The proof is in the pudding here and now anyway with George guaranteed the 10 shirt whatever.
Not like Fred has been ripping it up in Bath either.

The irony being Burns is behind Priestland who in an interview last year put his new found consistency down to training with George Ford and taking on board the detailed pre match analysis and preparation that Ford does every week.
