It's a strange one, IF we were to look to sign him he'd do the business for us, he is the kind of player who is in the right place at the right time (attacking wise), bit of a liability defensively and potentially a divisive figure in the camp - but opponents always think that, I don't think he'd be so divisive or confrontational if he was in a Tigers shirt/squad. Can't play the Him and Manu card because they got on fine at RWC 2011 (and after) after Manu swatted him in Prem semi final.

However, having said all that, I think we already have a player that is just as good at being 'on the shoulder' and 'in the right place' as Ashton, equally as good in an attacking sense, possibly faster, but less of a defensive liability - in fact I think he's very strong defensively - a good team player but just hasn't had the opportunity as yet to show he can perform consistently and I'm hoping he gets that chance this coming season.

That player is...Jonah Holmes. Having Holmes in the squad, and no other reason, is why I think it's pointless to go for Ashton, though I wouldn't be concerned if he popped up in our shirt next season - at the right price of course.

Whoever Ashton signs for, he will score tries. Bristol perhaps?

Thinking out loud - Ashton returns to Sarries - Tigers sign Lewington who has his Sarries Contract cancelled to make room?

Apologies for the website it's not the best but the BBc have ignored the rumours and the Toulon response but it's in there though. Short answer is Ashton is going nowhere.

Habana has retired and Semi the Fijian flyer has agreed to move to Bordeaux (Toulon must be gutted about that one).

In theory if he was to sign a contract with a premiership team for the 2019/20 season, does that make him available for England selection? Like Brad Shields with Wasps and like what’s is being talked about for Toomua and Australia!

Ashton back to Wigan is more likely.

Do not want him at Tigers, he is in it for the money.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Interesting - the secondments this season make sense now.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

I wouldn't want Gloucester getting Ashton.
A winger of his finishing ability amongst that lot could spell trouble.
