Don't be surprised if Cips plays more at 15 than 10!

Centre is still a massive issue with no clear 12/13 combo of note
Backrow is still at 6's and 7's- Armand, BOC or even Ross are great players somehow not needed?
The lack of Woodward at fullback is very odd considering Mike Brown will be 34 by the RWC

On the positive at least we will hopefully get to see if Cipriani deserves to be in the England 10 conversation or if the Ford/Farrell monopoly is deserved
Absolutely. I lost interest in England like BFG, for mostly the same reasons. But then English rugby has long been the province of ignoring the form players.

Parachuting Shields into the squad without ever having played in England is unbelievable ! What sort of message does that send to promising back row players who deserve to be given a chance? Ok, I’m pleased that the likes of Willis,Curry etc are included, but players of the calibre of Armand, Graham, Ross and co. must be calling Eddie all names under the sun.

IMHO, Shields is better than all the mentioned & Robshaw, he is far more English than some of the other squad members. If he had been playing over here he would of had numerous caps by now, he has just been behind some awesome All Blacks, he is at least as English as BOC.

How much have you seen of him to formulate such an opinion ?

How hypocritical to leave out Manu but include Vunipola who hasn’t put together a string of games this season and will probably get injured again in the semifinal.

Vunipola has played for England more recently than Manu and Manu did not want to be considered.

Manu asked not to be considered for selection. Vunipola didn't.

England have roped in Scott Wisemantel as an attack consultant for the upcoming tour of South Africa that kicks-off next month.

The 48-year-old has already worked under Eddie Jones during the 2015 World Cup campaign with Japan and also has an experience of specialist coach for Samoa in 2011. He has also worked with Wallabies as skills coach between 2004 and 2007.

He has also coached Japan's Toyota Verblitz, Australia's New South Wales Waratahs, France's AS Montferrand and Lyon apart from his recent association with Montpellier.

"He's a very good coach, he coached with me with the Wallabies and with Japan," said Jones.

"He has done Super Rugby with the Waratahs, coached successfully in Europe with Lyon and Montpellier, has a wealth of experience, great energy and I think he'll just add a little bit for this tour.

"I talk to him all of the time, we're constantly in dialogue - whenever he's available I want to use him."

Virtually every commentator agrees that Manu needs a full pre-season which he won't get if he goes on tour. Never mind the fact he has not played well/consistently enough yet to warrant a place.

I actually think it is an exciting squad, some cracking young prospects and Cipriani is picked on form. But we will need some experience out in SA and hence the inclusion of Brown/Robshaw/Farrell all proven operators when the going gets tough, which it will do.

I have seen plenty of Super Rugby & NZ provincial rugby, he would of been a good signing for Tigers, better than either of the back row we have signed by some distance
