Rob Horne forced to retire
Rob Horne has had to retire from rugby due to nerve damage in his arm.
Terrible news.
Terrible news.
Re: Rob Horne forced to retire
That is terrible, I assume following his injury last week
Re: Rob Horne forced to retire
This is shocking news, a great player
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni
Re: Rob Horne forced to retire
It was a relatively innocuous collision as well

That's a tragedy. Horne is a fantastic player too. Don't think I can ever recall a player getting injured and then announcing their immediate retirement in less than a week- the nerve damage he sustained must be pretty extensive, I hope it hasn't caused him too much permanent damage.
I saw Marika Vunibaka play

That can cause weakness/numbness and, if severe and hard to treat, chronic pain that's tough to bear. Awful news for the young man.POSTIGER wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 11:41 am That's a tragedy. Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Really sad news. Hopefully his injury won't have to bad an effect on him in the future!
Re: Rob Horne forced to retire
That is terrible news for a fine 28 year old centre with plenty to offer in the future following what looked like a minor collision. Raise a glass to him - even if he cannot.

Gutting for the lad. Those that started a Mexican wave while he was getting treatment should hang their heads in shame. They got short shift from others in the crowd who booed them.
Give blood, play rugby!!

Re: Rob Horne forced to retire
You're right. I posted that this morning before further details were released. According to the Beeb report he has a battle on to regain feeling in his arm at all. Gutted for the guy.strawclearer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 12:00 pmThat can cause weakness/numbness and, if severe and hard to treat, chronic pain that's tough to bear. Terribly sad news - and such a shock since, as others have noted, it looked a relatively innocuous collision. I hope the prognosis eventually proves to be a less devastating one, and also that he can make a successful transition into a second career (5-8 years than he would have planned for).
It’s a sobering story, especially as the father of a rugby-playing 12 year old; I’ll be just that little bit more edgy watching him tomorrow morning.

Feel really gutted for such a great bloke. Let’s hope Saints and the rugby family can do something to support him. Saw Tim Barnwell get a serious injury v Bristol at Twickers in the John Player Cup but Until the ambulance was called for I hoped Horne’s injury wasn’t too serious. Very sad to end his rugby career so young. Good luck for the future.

Huge shame for him, and for everyone in rugby to lose such a talented player.
I'm sure given his success he will not need any financial support.

Sad news and gutted for the player, his family, Saints and rugby in general. I wish him well in his future endeavours once he's come to terms with his unexpected situation.
All club rivalry and banter aside, I really feel for him.
I guess this is one reason why players should be expected to look for the best contracts and money they can secure, it's a short career anyway without sudden stops like this.

I agree about Mexican waves no time for them.
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
