Glad someone agrees me re Ford! 70% possession and on the front foot most of the game and your FH should be mustard, don't get the attraction with him at all.

Indeed. If the line-out is so critical (which it seems it is), it’s got to work. We all might have started with TPN on the basis of what we’ve just seen, but we’re not the coaches...Big Dai wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:22 pmLike the starting XV?markharbtiger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:17 pm What a mess. Continual line-out mistakes lost the game, and blew the season I am afraid. I simply don’t understand why player changes weren’t made sooner?
TPN for OTY. YBY and Worth to start with Matt Tomua at 10?
We don't do the horses for courses selections very well on occasion.

Only if we beat the Falcons. Having seen them play last night, I wouldn’t like to make that prediction...I’d rank them as considerably better than today’s opposition...strawclearer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:25 pmIt hasn't.
It was a 2017 performance and we got what we deserved. A lot of hysteria on here and elsewhere - understandably because it hurts when you lose a derby - but if we play our '2018 game' for the last two games, we'll make 4th.

I like Ford but you're right. I thought he was passing too deep, too early today rather than really taking it to the line which meant the centres and particularly the wingers were man for man with the Saints defenders - there were very few overlaps. Didn't beat too many men today either. Not bad by any means but certainly not game-changing.

Re: Tigers v Saints predictions
Tom Youngs performance was the key, incapable of hitting his man on multiple occasions, meant Tigers had to try and take safe option to front of line out. Saints could then drive the maul to touch and tie up any attacking options.
Just watched the second Saints try, they are waiting for Youngs to get a rush of blood and leave his defensive position and hit the maul that was going nowhere. Saints then attack the unoccupied position. Clearly a planned move.
Also gave away the first penalty in front of the posts, probably annoyed about botched lineouts.
TPN must start for the rest of the season.

Sorry my maths lol,BUT we have to win both. Lots of permutations but it was just a dumb performance,it should've been as good as wrapped up today!

Fourth place is still possible if they beat Falcons - preferably with a bp, but I believe Tigers' wins at Sale are as rare as hen's teeth.

It isn't in our hands now,Gloc are right in it now and even if we win both they can still overtake is with BP (which incidentally don't matter lol) chance well and truly blown today courtesy of 17 points from TY,I too mentioned him rushing to the maul earlier, dull!
Re: Tigers v Saints predictions
Having seen Falcons and Sharks go at it last night they represent the sort of cussed gritty opposition we faced today and that we used to provide. Because of poor performances early in the season we face the prospect of having to win two difficult games against savvy opposition with very savvy coaches. There is hope......but that's very thin in my book. I'm not confident the team has the bottle given today's performance or the coach the wit or resources to put a winning team out to do a job.....twice.markharbtiger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:31 pmOnly if we beat the Falcons. I can understand and make allowances for players being off form but what i can't accept is players bottling out of a tackle. George Fords pathetic attempt on the Northampton full back as he scored the try was awful, he totally bottled it, he needs to take a good look at himself, so disappointed.

Looking at the table, even a place in the top 6 is now in serious jeopardy, and no top flight European rugby next season would be unthinkable.

It is in Tigers' hands only if they win both matches with bonus points. A big IF!Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:41 pm It isn't in our hands now,Gloc are right in it now and even if we win both they can still overtake is with BP (which incidentally don't matter lol) chance well and truly blown today courtesy of 17 points from TY,I too mentioned him rushing to the maul earlier, dull!

Thought we were on a roll.
A Tiger Roll.
Didn't bet on that either.

I think thats harsh on Toomua, he made a number of breaks, the problem is he plays a dift attack and with Smith outside him it doesn’t draw any defends as he’s not an attacking threat so they were just drifting with him. Which is also why May and Veainu had no space. The issue is they didn’t change that plan when it want working they just seem to have 1 game plan and thats it.DeadlyDunc wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:10 pm Worst performance of the season for me.
Looked like they thought they just needed to turn up for the 5 points and were out fought and out thought for the vast majority of the game.
Cole poor, Tom Youngs awful, Ford was ok in open field but missed kicks, Kitchener poor as was the line out throughout, Back row out played bar Kalamafoni, Toomua was terrible and butchered at least 2 tries, May was poor and TV shackled pretty well.
None of the above are bad players but combined they were all off colour and you won’t win many games with so many playing badly.
But i have to agree after last week I expected our forward to tear them apart but to many mistakes, weak carring and laziness around the park again no one wants to commit to the breakdown we definitely need a 2nd big nasty 2nd row along with Spencer. Also didn’t see anything of Mapapalangi other than him constantly standing out on the wing as to why he justified a starting place over Evans. Tatafu has to start next game and hopefully O’Connor is back as not playing a specialist 7 doesn’t work for us. Also need either Tait or Manu back in centre someone the defence needs to worry about.
