Saracens up for sale

Post by ellis9 »

The Times are reporting the South African owners want to sell their 50% share of the club due to the money they are losing.

I can't do the link as I'm not a subscriber to The Times.

The story is to be in tomorrow's paper apparently.

I found it interesting that they refer to Sarries as "the leading club in English rugby". Personally I would say that to be a leading CLUB requires more than just success on the playing field for a couple of seasons.

Be really interesting to see what happens to them now.

Looks like the title needs changing as Wray is now sole owner and does not intend to sell.

Seems there is nothing to see here here.

He's certainly talking it up. But, he would, wouldn't he.

No smoke without fire. Wray struggled before that's why needed help last time. Realised sarries bubble about to burst??

In the Times article it lists the "owners" of all of the Premiership Clubs. Apparently Tigers is owned by Peter Tom. When did that happen? I thought it was owned by the members>

Seems to support the old maxim

You don't invest in rugby clubs to make money
