Or is it that Scarlets are in superb form currently......

I remember the Year Fatland took over, practically the entire Welsh Squad for that6N was from Ospreys and nobody expected Wales to do anything. One GS later..

Yet the Lions in SA are doing really well but the Springboks aren’t, during our Pat Howard glory days we doing well but England weren’t. Just because the Scarlets have done well doesn’t mean that Wales will do well this Six Nations

Will be fun to see if he takes the Scarlets players and tries to make them play Gatland ball, or whether he'll let them stick to the Scarlets game plan.

6 of the 7 backs from one region is huge - I wonder if any club has ever done that before?

As for injuries - centre Jonathan Davies and lock Jake Ball (Scarlets), they're mainly hammered at fly half losing both Biggar and Priestland however having seen Patchel playing this season (albeit a lot at full back) he's got the skills, just needs to confidence.

A lot of people down West are wondering what Cubby Boi needs to do to make the team.

I think Scotland could snatch that one, hope so anyway!

Looks like England will have Robshaw, Brown, Nowell and Itoje fit for Italy - which is good news given all their other injuries.

It's the back row that looks very inexperienced so Robshaw's presence will be important.

Really looking forward to all 3 matches.

No Owen Williams,he's said he wants his FH to be with his camp continuously and English players go back and forth so sadly no caps likely for Owen until he goes to a Welsh club.

Gatlands Law is the WRU pressuring players. If he needs them they get chosen.
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95

Utter Hypocrite, the new Gatland’s Law and the old Gatland’s law frustrates me, why does it apply to an English a few miles from the Welsh border, it should only apply to players outside the UK & Ireland. He’s got no problem including Ross Moriarty and Tomas Francis.

Not much gets past you does it....

Gatland has four Regions to chose from. Currently, Scarlets are the best performing of them. I wasn't suggesting that selecting half the Scarlets team gave Wales a shoe-in for the 6N, merely that it's happened before and could happen again. It doesn't take a professor of Quantum Physics to work out that by selecting a job lot of the Scarlets team, Gatland has improved his team's chances considerably considering his growing injury list - but:

The real point was made by Tiger In Brum who observed rightly that it will be interesting to see if Gatland lets his Scarlets backline play as they are now very comfortable with (i.e. very dangerously) or will he try to mould them in his image (i.e. potentially disastrously). The way Ospreys played when Gatland took over happened to suit his vision for success and its hard to argue that it was the wrong thing to do - pick as many Ospreys as he could. Wales enjoyed some real success under Gatland's early tenure. As we now know, variety is also the spice of life and Gatland's intransigence has proved costly.

Let those Scarlets boys run free and its look out everybody else.

Hamilton is not in the Scotland 23 v Wales, so providing his stitches are ok he may be available for us v Wasps, providing he is not held back as Scotlands team cover.

Stuart Hogg (Glasgow Warriors); Tommy Seymour (Glasgow Warriors), Chris Harris (Newcastle Falcons), Huw Jones (Glasgow Warriors), Byron McGuigan (Sale Sharks); Finn Russell (Glasgow Warriors), Ali Price (Glasgow Warriors); Gordon Reid (London Irish), Stuart McInally (Edinburgh), Jon Welsh (Newcastle Falcons), Ben Toolis (Edinburgh), Jonny Gray, John Barclay (Scarlets, captain), Hamish Watson (Edinburgh), Cornell du Preez (Edinburgh).

Replacements: Scott Lawson (Newcastle Falcons), Jamie Bhatti (Glasgow Warriors), Murray McCallum (Edinburgh), Grant Gilchrist (Edinburgh), Ryan Wilson (Glasgow Warriors), Greig Laidlaw (Clermont Auvergne), Pete Horne (Glasgow Warriors), Sean Maitland (Saracens).

Scotland's biggest problem is the front row

4th a 5th choice players could prove a liability BUT I don't see it being as big a problem as it would have been a few years ago ... Reid and Welsh are playing well with premiership clubs .. the bench may be more of an issue but the props are not quite as poor as you may think .. the geriatric Scott Lawson isn't quite what you would want in the 6 nations bless him but I'm sure he'll give his all if required ... Mcinally will have to put a big long shift in. Pray for no more injuries.

Wales will come at them in the front 5 but if they can get some sort of parity I expect Scottish backs to cut loose

Today's telegraph suggesting that EJ wants to play Jack Nowell at outside centre. Interesting!

Makes sense he’s playing an outside centre on the wing.
