Seru Rabeni pace, power and always a smile on his face and taken from us far too soon.

Is he now part of the Saracens staff?
Not that I know of, but he's been hounded by the Irish courts for multi million € debts, not that he probably gives a toss as he's in his 80s and has lived his life to the full.
He played for Tigers from 1958-1960 and sadly I never saw him play . Is there anyone here who did see him play?

This will be different to many other people as they would have seen him loads but I started watching at a very young age and Martin Corry retired shortly afterwards so I would have loved to see more of him

Yes Robespierre I saw Tony play, a very big winger, if I remember he worked for Heinz, later becoming their Chief Exec.

Yes I saw Tony O'Reilly play at Welford Road although it was for Barbarians against the Tigers. He was certainly one of the Barbarians' stars on that occasion. In fact somewhere I have his autograph. In those days spectators were allowed into the Clubhouse after the Boxing Day match and whilst the adults were sinking pints and the players were having their post match dinner, boys like myself would pester the players of both sides for autographs. So somewhere up in the attic is a musty old book with many autographs of players from that era (late 50's/early 60's). O'Reilly was a very charismatic guy and many years later I heard O'Reilly give an extremely funny and scurrilous speech in which he told a story about the Irish full back Jackie Kyle (I think) who missed a tackle allowing the England centre Phil Horrocks-Taylor to score the winning try. O'Reilly mimicking Kyle's broad accent trying to explain away the missed tackle: "the Horrocks jinked left, the Taylor jinked right and I was left with the ******* hyphen".

I too saw Tony O'Reilly play. A huge personality on and off the pitch. I was very young at the time so cant really remember that much about it.

Julian White, although I saw a lot of him, someone I would never tire of watching. Sums up perfectly what we no longer have!
If you don't go in hard it's not a tackle it's an insult.

Just for a bit of fun, what one player that has played for Tigers do you wish you could have seen more of?
For me it has got to be Josefinas Achaval with Marcos Ayerza. - What a player..

For me it's Jaco van der Westhuyzen.
Martin Castrogiovani and/or Dan Hipkiss.
But why worry, Tigers are top of their European Group and 2nd in the AP right?

Harry Ellis
A real warrior who gave everthing for the team a bit like Moody in his diregard for his own body, charging down kicks, scrapping etc. Shame his knee injury prevented him carrying on - I can't quite remeber how it got it but I think it was foul play and some big lock kicked it when fully extended or something like that.

You might find this of interest - unless you're a fan of Ian Evans, the Ospreys lock...
