Castres vs Tigers

Post by JP14 »

Personally I think we should prioritise the Premiership and rest our EPS players therefore:

1 Mulipola
2 Polota-nau
3 Bateman
4 Wells
5 Kitchener
6 Dom Ryan
7 O’Connor
8 Mapapalangi
9 Shazam
10 Toomua
11 Holmes
12 Tuilagi
13 Smith
14 Malouf
15 Worth

Agreed on the priority. I'd give Toomua a rest too.

Toomua needs game time not a rest!

Agree with a start for Bateman, Ryan and Owen if fit. Also would start Thacker at 2 and put "not Logo" on the bench.

Polota-Nau could be given a rest too considering he's been playing a lot of rugby non-stop since February, chance for Mahoney on the bench maybe or will Tom Youngs be fit?

Frankly, the only point now of ERC and AW is to give players the game time they need to prepare properly for the Premiership run-in. With that in mind, I'd either play both MT's or neither. We need a centre partnership that 'gels' - where 12 knows instinctively what 13 is thinking and vice versa.

I believe Owen was 50/50 for Irish, didn't see him training though

As we are out of Europe I'd play the reserves and kids giving them a chance to impress. I'd play a AW style side, although with the forwards mostly being seniors and not kids as they'd get battered.
Don't know if the Argentine couple will be officially here by then

Rizzo
Thacker
Bateman
Wells
Maksymiw
Raffell
Evans
Mapapalangi

Harrison
Hardwick
Holmes
Thacker
Worth
Malouf
Olowofela

Subs: Kerr/Mahoney, Traynor, Mulipola, Lewis, O'Connor, White, Simmonds, Brady?

Jeez that side would have 60 points put on them and all confidence would be destroyed!

They have to be registered for Europe so no Raffell, Hardwick, Olowofela, Mahoney/Kerr, Lewis,

I think you are wrong with those selections, I believe we must put out our very strongest team, if we still lose then OK for the following 3 weeks the first team can be rested, but until we are categorically out, we must try to qualify.

Nope,we are out. 10 points is dreamland stuff and 16 points wont be enough anyway,we now have 4 games to put some combinations together for the games during the 6N while still putting a side out thats competitive. Above all Harrison and Toomua has to be looked at because J.Ford is a poor FH at AP level.

I still think there is a Millionth of a chance of winning the group, it may be pie in the sky but we have to try. Even if its only for the travelling fans, we should not accept defeat yet!

I think it would be definitely be worth giving Toomua a game at 10 with Harrison at 9. Surely that's for to be our best bet for the 6 nations period.

I'd also like to see Worth, Holmes (although last time I looked he wasn't registered), Evans, Rizzo and Wells.

We need to try and get the balance right so we are competitive and give players a chance to stick there hands up for the next few league games which are pretty key! Maybe a bit of youth will add some passion which was missing yesterday by virtually everyone other than Thacker and May.
