Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
1-Abysmal box kicking by Youngs
2-Bad game management by Youngs and Ford behind a thrashed pack
3-Ultra weak pack, probably the worst in Tigers history---------nothing going forward
4-Total lack of Coaching structure
OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT
And he was measuring his words carefully

Yes just waiting for the comment from MoC now that we learnt a lot from the match which will stand us in good stead for the rest of the Season.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

That could be an assessment of 75% of the games this seasonfortysix wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2017 6:39 pm 1-Abysmal box kicking by Youngs

How can Youngs or Ford play when instead of the forwards getting stopped on the gainline, they are going metres backwards every time.

Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
They were both poor against Sarries too with scrum domination and forward parity most of the time.
Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
Healeys comments about playing behind a beaten pack was that BY and GF were trying to play catch up rugby when they should be slowing the game down and gaining territory---just not by abysmal out of hand kicking....

Fords kicking game was good into the corners. His up and indeed weren’t bad, just the chase was awful on them.

Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
Healey 100% correct.
We see it - opposition coaches see it. Moc and the team MUST SEE IT. But what is done about it ?
Nout for 4-5 seasons now. We deserve the critique.

Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
With the exception of the castres game, we have looked lacking all season. The thing is though we have out together a team based on a set of rules. If the refs don't ref the rules as written, allowing people iffvtheir feet and slowing down the breakdown, what are we to do? Watching the Exeter players flying off their feet at every ruck was a little frustrating. Not giving excuses but another line of discussion?

Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
Their number 6 in particular was doing this pretty much every ruck and should have been penalised then carded, it's dangerous and against the laws. There is far too much of this disregard of the Rubgy laws going on, it's making me lose interest in the game altogether.Rykard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 11:32 am With the exception of the castres game, we have looked lacking all season. That said it does not excuse Tigers poor play: poor re-starts, poor kick chases, lateral play going backwards, static players receiving ball, poor passing, fowards going in ones and getting turned over etc. Not being able to adapt to poor refereeing is just one other aspect Tigers are poor at.
All of these problems have been evident for some time, under MoC it seems to be getting worse. There are only two options IMO, either accept Tigers are the new Worcester or make drastic changes and quickly.

Yep, agree on ALL counts. We have found this season a real dampener for our love of AP level rugby, very few games where the breakdown is not illegal, probably only the games reffed by Dickson and Barnes where it has been close to legal.Rykard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 12:17 pmAgreed.G.K wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 12:02 pmTheir number 6 in particular was doing this pretty much every ruck and should have been penalised then carded, it's dangerous and against the laws. Re: Healeys withering assessment of Tigers
Since he left, Healey seems to have consistently criticised or talked down the teams at Tigers, so no surprise there.
That doesn't necessarily mean that he is wrong now though, and it is hard to argue otherwise.
However, the 'weak pack' and 'lack of structure' points are to a large degree linked by cause and effect, imo.
The scrum, with coaching from Boris, has mostly been good. (When we have anywhere near 4 fit first or second/third choice props, at least - we've paid a price in recent games by having tired props on for too long, and because their replacements are not good enough to provide any late push we have struggled late on).
The scrum aside, in virtually all other aspects of our forward play we have been a poor second in most games. The lack of both a quality forwards coach, and a pack leader with enough nous (sorry Tom Youngs is not the right man) have combined to make the pack directionless and ineffective, both as an attacking unit and in defence. Also, the longer this situation persists, the players are losing confidence.
Surely, people such as Ben Kay must see this?
I just hope that, given it is now some time since Blaze stepped down, that Tigers are digging deep to get the right personnel, and that an appointment(s) is imminent.
