Tigers v Munster

Post by tigerburnie »

Any news on any injuries apart from we know that Telusa has a broken jaw?
Any sightings in Oadby of a large Aussie front row player?
I take it Strawclearer has the pitch in hand as he has previous for this lol.

It's so cold here that when I sent Mrs Strawclearer out to clear the drive, she stopped complaining because her jaw froze.

Had to grit her teeth.

I agree a lot with JP14's selection.

IMO, it's time to stop messing about. Toomua and Tuilagi are either fit or they're not. Get them in the side and to hell with the consequences. The next 3 or 4 matches are mid-season cup finals. Malouf over Thompstone - yep, thumbs up on that one. Pakalani over Tait. Yep. Tait has been alright but as above - let's go for broke. I might have Tait on the bench though. And yes, Logo in, Barrrow in. Wells could be useful.

Yep,0/2 on our 5.game run,4 tbp conceded in a row,most likely out of Europe,would be out of the running for a home AP SF if Sarries hadnt conspired.to go on their worse run ever,less league points than at this stage last season,bottom of our Eurioean group,worse defence than last season,lineout still awful,season capitulating so lets just go for it!

I really can't see the point of Joe Ford being on the bench, particularly if Toomua is in the side. Even he's not I'd still be tempted to leave him out.

We need our biggest meanest pack available.

I would have Williams starting in the back row at 6 and a second row of Barrow and Touhy if fit, if not then Wells.

I would also start with the Aussie hooker if he can learn the calls in time.

We need solidity at fullback so Tait and hopefully one of Manu, Toomua or Owen may be fit to add a bit of quality in the centre, if not then Worth is a good shout at 12.

May and Holmes on the wing, Holmes has been brilliant every chance he's had, he's also a big lump. We have 4 good wings but they would be my choices.

Does anyone know what is wrong with Bateman?

No I think last seasons defence was worse that was because of the system this season it has been the mindset. This season Toomua has been making really good tackles and the downside of that is everyone else doesn’t need to make the tackle. Therefore when Toomua injured himself we lost the big hitter in the backline and the players thinking :censored I got to tackle now, so 🤞 we will have Toomua back on Sunday

That's a shame, we really could do with his umph!

Interesting article in todays DT on next Sunday's match;

There's also a fascinating article about the referring on last Saturday's game and how Munster got away with a lot at the breakdown. It's a premium article however so not sure that I can copy and paste the link....but I will try;

Feel like as we got smashed at the breakdown, Wells and fit O’Connor should come in. Considering we beat Exeter playing Wells and Barrow together, don’t know why they haven’t been paired together more often.

Mulipola
Polata-Nau
Cole
Wells
Barrow
Hamilton
O’Connor
Kalamafoni
Youngs
Ford (C)
May
Smith
Owen
Holmes
Pakalani

Rizzo, Youngs, Cilliers, Williams, Mapapalangi, Harrison, Toomua, Tuilagi
