Here's another link to check out on the Rugbyrama website, "Richard Cockerill - tiger without balm".
An interesting insight in how the French see him and well worth taking the time to read - even though it's in French!, and if French is not your forte, ask Google to translate for you.

Cracking read, and a hint as to how the rest of the rugby world perceives him, esepcially the French. At Edinburgh until Galthie falters, then Toulon will beckon.

This is all speculation about Cockers if Toulon fail to win tonight then they will quickly forget him. Boardroom loyalty doesn't exist any more and especially not in the French game,

Re: Cockerill leads Toulon to Top 14 final
That must have been one of the best Top14 finals for a while.
Clermont got out of the blocks very quickly and established an important lead as Toulon came back in the second half and could have scored a late try to give them a chance to win.
As Tigercaspian wrote, the game was brutal with some thundering tackles. Players seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Belleau, Toulon's young fly half had quite a good game and it was tough that the two penalties he missed both struck a post. If the score had been 16-16 going in to the closing minutes, I feel that Toulon would have snuck it.
But few would deny that Clermont deserved to win the Brennus. I for one, was pleased that they won, although I was disappointed for Cockers as he'd done some sterling work with Toulon in the seven games he was in charge.

Re: Cockerill leads Toulon to Top 14 final
This was one of the most brutal games I have seen in a long time...really was two teams going to war and an absorbing watch...wasn't sure about Poites final call for the turnover but happy for Clermont...Cockerill sure did a great job...was funny to hear him shouting so much from the touchline
Sad thing is if they had Halfpenny like they wanted it could have been a different story...

Re: Cockerill leads Toulon to Top 14 final
For all the chat about Cockers that has gone on since before and after his departure I am sure that the change for him as an individual, as a DoR/Head Coach or whatever post you him in, has despite his 'pain' done him the world of good. The guy looks re-generated and to turn around a Toulon side that had lost its way through its own self-indulgence has been excellent for him and the club. I look forward to seeing the resurgence of Edinburgh from its lowly place.

Thanks Robespierre, wouldn't have done that otherwise. All very interesting as far as my 'O' level French would let me but, yet again, Cockers honesty wins him fans
