Team's up v Quins:

Post by Hot_Charlie »

Leicester Tigers (v Harlequins, away, Friday 7.45pm)
15 Telusa Veainu
14 Adam Thompstone
13 Peter Betham
12 Maxime Mermoz
11 J P Pietersen
10 Freddie Burns
9 Sam Harrison
1 Ellis Genge
2 George McGuigan
3 Greg Bateman
4 Harry Wells
5 Dom Barrow (c)
6 Mike Fitzgerald
7 Brendon O'Connor
8 Lachlan McCaffrey

Replacements
16 Tom Youngs
17 Riccardo Brugnara
18 Pat Cilliers
19 Mike Williams
20 Luke Hamilton
21 Jono Kitto
22 Owen Williams
23 Matt Smith

Just for all those worried about Betham, he's back, as is McCaffrey (Hamilton has worked his socks off, so probably deserves at least a half on the bench). Good to see Harry Wells getting a start and Dom Barrow leading the side again.

Good side. Not sure about blooding Wells in the AP for such an important game, but perhaps I underestimate him.

Williams and Hamilton were our best players last week, so v unlucky to be on the bench, but v pleased to see Locky back.

I hope Betham reacts well to being let off the naughty step and has a blinder, he has all the talent, just in his head!!

Looking forward to it, early drink tomorrow evening then feet up on the sofa with a curry!!

Good side! And a wonderful show of faith in Harry Wells.

That backline is mouth watering.

Are Kitch and/or Slater injured?

Although I'm particularly looking forward to the emotional posts wondering where Harry Thacker is...

Kitch and Slater are injured

Re the comment blooding Wells - I guess other choices could be made but he played very well in the AWC... I like it and we can make a change if all does not go well.

As for Harry Thacker - I agree the comments will come. I guess the fact that he has not publicly signed either here or elsewhere may have an influence too???

Disagree slightly soggy, both were excellent but for me Fitzy was our best player, involved in everything!

Doubt Thacker not playin has anything to do with no contract extension but I'm sure people will read it that way becuase that is what people do.

It's nice to see a bit of rotation coming in.

Dom Barrow captain, wouldn't mind him keeping the armband for the future.

McGuigan and Barrow are two players that have risen in the last month seem to be everywhere when on the pitch.

McGuigan in for Youngs. Excellent news.

Betham not so sure about. Hopefully after a mini-break he can capture some form.

I guess Roberts is injured hence Betham in - don't think he deserves a spot on recent showings . Very surprised Hamilton left out - McCaffrey simply isn't an 8. Mike Williams should be the first name on the team sheet - last week we had a back row that played well as a unit and for once actually did some effective ball carrying - daft to change . A Quins win now I reckon .

I think having his mate Telusa playing again will help him.

Roberts limped off last week didn't he?

Betham is a class player. He'll be fine. He's been off key lately but I'm quite sure being surrounded by class will help him find his mojo again.

I can see that the tactics will be to deny ball first to stutify their game, then inject beef later if needed. There must be one eye on the Exe game and the ideal team for that (which must include Williams and Hamilton).
