After his performance today easily deserved the man of the match for his first half performance alone, I wouldn't mind if Monsieur Picamoles took the short journey up the M1 from Franklyn's Gardens to Welford Road and that would solve our No.8 problem at a stroke.

1)Jamie George. We need a big, powerful hooker to make the difference between parity and superiority in the scrums.

2)Vunipola/Parese/Picamole. We need an 8!

3)Maro Itoje - we need a talismanic leader.

Looking at realistic targets I'm hoping Worcs go down and we have a go at signing a handful of their better players:Hammond, Heem, Hougaard, Pennell, Shillcock, Te'o. Would be happy with any of them as all play positions we need cover in

Yes seriously

Youngs is half our problems

Slow, ponderous, poor pass .... any other defects in a scrum half that can cause any more problems

Forwards must hate it because every time they have fought hard to win the ball they get up and they are 10 yArds back

Backs must hate it because they are working off ball around ankles or heads in equal distribution ... who knows what ... when and always recieving ball going backwards and with half the opposition on top of them.

Care is sharp and crisp an dalways asking the opposition questions

Why would I not prefer Care

For that matter I much prefer Harrison as is well documented on here.

The back row is the key weakness - underpowered in securing our own ball and competing for the oppositions. Makes the scrum half's job difficult which exposes Youngs' weakness. Yes Youngs or a replacement need to be capable of getting back foot ball away from the breakdown or scrum, but we need to address the reasons for back foot ball as a priority.
In the scrum that needs the front row sorting too - it's pointless having international props if you pick a hooker who lacks the power needed in the modern game. Tom Youngs was exceptionally powerful for a small guy but not since his back problems so we really should be using McGuigan more and returning Bateman to hooker.

Both the tigers management and the England management believe he is the best English scrum half

I just wonder if somewhere in Ireland there is a clone of Geordan Murphy wandering around now that would be a good signing.
