England U20s

Post by Pinot Tiger »

In our current state, it is worrying to see that no Tigers have been selected for the England's U20 Six nations campaign. To put it into persepctive, Worcester have 6!
To Toulouse and beyond...

Tigers don't need to produce players. We'll just let Worcester do it, and then sign their players once they have had a few years of experience.

The players that Wasps, Bath and Sarries don't want, that is.

I think this is really only to be expected following the decline in importance of the Academy during the past 5 or 6 years .The number of young players brought through the ranks has slowed to a trickle with Cockerill seemingly preferring to fund 4th rate foreigners rather than produce our own players .
Sarries and Quins have showed us how to do it and I hope that our new regime will follow suit .

Thacker, Evans and Worth are eligible but I assume we have asked for them to be exempted from duty as we intend to play them. Simmons, White and Hardwick are all in the younger age groups. Slightly worrying that they're all backs...

Wrong! :smt018
Thacker and Worth are too old for U20 and Evans is a forward.
Simmons and White are too old for U18, so they would qualify, I'm pretty sure that they are the same age group as Umaga.
No wonder Leicester are where they are with spin like that!

Worth missed out by about a month.
Thacker by about 4 months.

Also you missed Harper off the age groups list Sam.

So they don't qualify! :smt015

When there is a proper good one we will see RB.
I watched the last U18 match at Oval Park, very disappointing stuff, very slow!
All the spin in the world won't trick folk into believing we have a Genge or an Itoje or a Ford or a Nowell.
Evans is a good young player but still plenty to improve.
Simmons is also a very good young player.
That is all!

I see Umaga is playing for Wasps in the AWC this weekend as are a few others who have been with their academy side so I expect a much easier U18 match up tomorrow and a result!

Missed the first half but the second is half being played at an impressive pace and is very watchable

It just shows that the future of England is in good hands if we can post a result like that. I'm sure that U20 Tigers players will feature in future games.

I think we need to get hold of Zach Mercer. That kid has got a bright future.
