The search for an 8 continues
Fearns confirmed to Gloucester.
Ben Morgan contract extention.
Main two options down the drain. Anybody heard any rumours, contracts ending etc?
Tigers confirmed they have the space in the salary cap and the money to sign a decent 8, but nothings been mentioned in a fair while, is this not considered a priority?

Plenty of chatter on this No8 subject, and other postions too, on this cunningly disguised thread.....SirGordonRamsey wrote:Main two options down the drain. Anybody heard any rumours, contracts ending etc?

Thankyou very much for this, not 8 specific but very handy, will bookmark. Would be handy to see contracts ending from other clubs aswell, although that would be alot of information.WhitecapTiger wrote:Plenty of chatter on this No8 subject, and other postions too, on this cunningly disguised thread.....SirGordonRamsey wrote:Main two options down the drain. Why is this subject being continually raised, we have a very good No. 8 for the ignorant he's called Lachlan McCaffrey, unless you are all talking about cover for when he.s injured or suspended?

Re: The search for an 8 continues
Whilst I am a huge McCaffrey fan, he is not a big line breaker. Do not get me wrong he should be in any team we put out, he's been outstanding for us. But having a bigger 8 to give us front-foot ball will give us a better platform to attack from. Call others ignorant if you wish but Tigers and Cockrill have confirmed they're looking for a marquee 8, there is a reason for that.Noddy555 wrote:Why is this subject being continually raised, we have a very good No. 8 for the ignorant he's called Lachlan McCaffrey, unless you are all talking about cover for when he.s injured or suspended?
All of this has no impact on how the club or the fans value mccaffrey, he is invaluable to us.

What we need is an Opeti Fonua, but with better fitness and an ability drop the ball less than 50% of the time. That would complement the ball playing ability of LM nicely.
Re: The search for an 8 continues
Yes Gordon but breaking the line is a skill that you learn unless you've got Manu's physique. I'm sure he'll improve given time.

In which case I look forward to seeing all of our players breaking the line.Noddy555 wrote:Yes Gordon but breaking the line is a skill that you learn unless you've got Manu's physique. I'm sure he'll improve given time.
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity
Re: The search for an 8 continues
We have a ready made 8 probably on the way out in his current position as his defence is far far too erratic
Step forward Manu Tuilagi
Anyone agree ?

Re: The search for an 8 continues
He has a tendency to fly out the line looking for the big hit but otherwise is normally pretty good in defence. He's rusty at the moment but given the length of time he was injured that isn't surprising.fortysix wrote:We have a ready made 8 probably on the way out in his current position as his defence is far far too erratic

We have potentially got exactly the 8 we want coming through in Fred Tuilagi but he is only 18 and needs some refining before he's ready.
There are still some decent units available. Strauss at Glasgow for instance. I'm actually quite happy we didn't sign Morgan he's a little work shy in defence.

.
Struass would be decent.
I'm sure the club still view it as a piroity but we won't be getting a new 8 till next season so might as well be patient and look around.
