Its clear to me neither Toomua or Pietersen were going to be here for pre season nor indeed the start of the new season. To have 2 such big name signings subject to this arrangement through out their tenure at Tigers is at best inconvenient but no doubt was a contractual precondition. If Marcus is yet again away with Argentina thats 3 of our top players absent until mid October at the earliest. Fingers crossed that none of them get crocked.

Australia's and South Africa's final games in the Rugby Championship are on 8 Oct, so if they are playing throughout the contest they ain't arriving in summer!!

Marcus Ayerza isn't away with Argentina - he's retired from International Rugby as the Argentine Union announced they would only pick players who play in Super Rugby from this season onwards.

Thank you for updating me, hopefully Marcus and Tigers will benefit from no longer playing international rugby.

Cockers on Radio Leicester last night said Pietersen will arrive in august after super rugby, but Toomua is contracted to Australia and so will probably arrive in October after the Rugby Championship

Tigers wont be fielding Toomua until November, they must have known when they signed him.

Mustn't they?

When Tigers announced the signing of Toomua, the website said he will arrive in the Summer of 2016.

Either, Garry Sherrard who put the story on was wrong or he was incorrectly informed.

We have good enough players to play for 2 to 3 months so it's not a major worry.

Can't really disagree with that, it is the forwards that have to step up this coming season. In a big way.

At least he'll be in the country then, perhaps Cockers could arrange his kidnapping.

Doesn't his present contract with the ARU run to the end of the Championship after which he becomes a Tiger, so an overseas player. But he wouldn't have played 60 internationals so be eligable under ARU rules.

Seeing as he's reportedly on a 3 year contract I think we can cope with his late arrival for Season 1!

Past few seasons TIGERS have not performed in the early parts of the season and have timed their run, and form, post Christmas. In MHO it had served us pretty well and therefore Toomau's arrival would coincide with this late surge. However squads have got stronger and the season could be over by the time we get a run.

I am pleased with the signings and expect great things this season.
No excuses this season....
