#HearTheRoar

Post by jonnyatom5 »

The second instalment of this cryptic piece of marketing is up and apparently we have an underground secret facility where we engineer our players. Yes, right beneath Welford Road.

I'm intrigued. Your conspiracy theories would be appreciated

You'll have to forgive me for being a bit pedantic here but the video seems to show M Tuilagi as 13 L. When my father played for Tigers at outside centre he wore 'M' not 'L'. So - am I missing something (maybe it's L for Large?) or has an error been made?! :smt017

As he's now playing 12 and 13 they're covering both bases :)

Though more likely his shirt size as you suggest

An underground facility is not new, Wales had a mine where they made outside halves in the 70s, just ask Max Boyce :smt003

I received this today from Gary Sherrard:

"The letter ‘M’ should indeed be attached to the No13 shirt and this has already been brought to the attention of the production company responsible for the filming. The film is now in its final edit stage and we look forward to seeing a full and correct version shortly."

Oops! :smt018

It beats being asked "how's your father?" or especially "where's your father?" so no forgiveness required!

My late father was E.R. (Peter) Bennett. He gets a mention on p93 of the Leicester Football Club 1880-1980 book and pages 122, 126 & 127 in the new Tigers history. Like so many of his generation, WW2 rather got in the way of his rugby 'career' - he was a Fleet Air Arm fighter pilot - and 1948/9 was his most prolific Tigers year I believe.

He was educated at Trent College so knew Obolensky although he was a few years below 'Obo'!

Very interesting! A long way before my time of course, and not an era I'll pretend to know a lot about in rugby. I bet he had some good tales to tell!!
