Newcastle v Tigers - Oh no just gets worse its Greg Garner.
Yes just when we thought things might improve in the selection of Referees having experienced Tim Wigglesworth last weekend we now have Greg Garner on Friday at Newcastle. http://www.planetrugby.com/news/match-o ... uary-14-2/
Re: Newcastle v Tigers - Oh no just gets worse its Greg Garn
Have we ever won when Garner has reffed us? Have we ever won on a plastic pitch?
Re: Newcastle v Tigers - Oh no just gets worse its Greg Garn
is there a ref you WOULD approve of?
Less is more....

Owens, Poite, Garces, Barnes, Whitehouse, JP..... the two above are the founder members of the Horse's Rear End Society. We are not the only club that shivers on their appointment.

I would prefer GG to Wiggy, ......JUST

If Tigers don't run around playing with their pish flaps like they did last week, neither the playing surface nor the referee should be a factor in the result.

There is a skill in playing the ref; even the bad ones. It's the same for both teams, hence, no excuses.
Know how he refs, what he is looking for and what you will probably get away with. Simples

I think that you have targeted the issue - the problem with both these refs is you don't know what they want, possibly they don't know themselves. I find many refs fairly straightforward as Noggs writes, these two......Noggs wrote:There is a skill in playing the ref; even the bad ones. It's the same for both teams, hence, no excuses.

True enough - but this doesn't alter the fact that both sides are in the same boat. Random poor decisions will generally even out over the season - but of course may not do so within any one match.jgriffin wrote:I think that you have targeted the issue - the problem with both these refs is you don't know what they want, possibly they don't know themselves. Nobody (I hope) here would suggest GG is biased - so if it is merely that he makes bad decisions, they are just as likely to go our way as N'castle's! Even if they do go the other way, it is highly unlikely that it would make more than a 2 score difference. Consequence? If we can play 2 scores better than the opposition, we take capricious refereeing out of the equation
Re: Newcastle v Tigers - Oh no just gets worse its Greg Garn
Yes there are several good Referees at present and there are several good prospects coming along. Leighton Hodges, Ben Whitehouse & Nigel Owens on a good day without cameras! for Wales, Luke Pearce,JP Doyle & Wayne Barnes have both improved since the RWC2015 especially with playing on during TMO investigations,Andrew Small, Ashley Rowden of England: Watch Glen Jackson this w/e, One of the best was the great Clive Norling no nonsense.Bunchy wrote:is there a ref you WOULD approve of?
But who will forget Gregs "Triple Penalty Tries" v Saracens on their plastic mat in January.
