Today we lost in Wogan the Master of BBC broadcasting. - RIP.

But to find we have lost Bill after 34870 posts the Master of the Messageboard is a tremendous loss to us. RIP Keep the faith that the stand, bars & catering will reach the high standards you expected. Thanks for your enlightenment over the years as you ascend to the Crumbie in the skies. :smt051

Only just logged on to get this news and very saddened by it. Sadly January was a bad month for losing some great people.

Bill W was a true icon of this forum, whether you agreed with him or not. He will be sadly missed, certainly by me, and this forum will be all the poorer without him.

Sincere condolences to all his his friends and family.

Rest In Peace Bill W and Keep the Faith :smt027

I am completely shocked. I have had many chats with Bill over the years, mostly on the forum, but occasionally in the Lancaster Road car park. Always thoughtful, forever committed to Tigers, waspish but a real student of the game and it's players and politics, I will sorely miss his contribution to my enjoyment of Tigers in particular, and to the game as a whole - there cannot be many contributors who have been quoted by name in The Times!

A very sad day.

Cheers Bill. :smt023 l trust you have "the best seat in the house".

Can anyone do a proper obit for Bill w?. An informed pain, a dogged purveyor of opinions and Tigers through and through.

Sorry to hear this. Whilst I didn't always agree with him and we occasionally clashed, he was always very courteous in disagreement.

Back in my days of being a smoker and a terrace season ticket holder we would regularly discuss the first half's action in the smokers' sin bin whist he chugged away on his pipe at half time.

Sleep peacefully Bill you cantankerous old devil. You always did say you'd never live to see the new stand finished. I hope the queues for service are tolerable up there :smt023

Once enjoyed an uproarious Tigers members evening in the company of Bill and his band of B&I Lions tourist nutters. Lived his life as he wanted. Passed on with his beloved Tigers on the up and playing splendidly.

Onwards and upwards my friend.

How frustrating, and sad, that he's subverted posters' contrary arguments...again!

The forum will be an easier, but less enjoyable, thing to read now. My condolences to his family.

A valued contributer to the forum - if mostly for jest and potentially a few shandies deep.

He was a lovely man to have met once in person - and a consistent feature of the board. He will be missed.

Sincere condolences.

A man of strong views and great wit and humour.

We are all the poorer by his passing.
