Hambo :- He was with England when he was injured, but he was a Tigers player, our player. He is still our player.”

Odd if so, given that he has been quoted that he would pick his 1st 15, then pick the captain from them. Given that Hartley has not played for 6 weeks, and George is playing well in a table topping, unbeaten team, I don't quite understand the logic.

He wouldn't be my choice. I don't think it will prove to be a good choice.

But I have heard several people say "I won't support England if he's captain". I will not be adding my name to that list.

I think we are all missing one possibility - what are the odds on him doing an "Ashton" this weekend and screwing up yet another chance????
Away, in Wales, with a screaming crowd on his back and his famously short fuse and small brain..... got to be worth a punt hasn't it?
Less is more....

Apart from last weekend of course. When he played.

And two weeks before that, when he came off the bench. And the week before that when he started.

Three appearances - two starts - in the last four weeks.

The same at Tom Youngs, in fact.

Yes, he played for 57 minutes against Glasgow on Sunday. He was pretty average in a poor game, and even after allowing for the corrections to nt's post, his point still stands, imo.
By most observers opinions Jones would not be selecting on form.
George has been very good this season; and even many of our Saintly friends consider Hartley as second choice to Haywood to at the moment. On Sunday when he came on, Haywood made a nuisance of himself, and took a punch which resulted in a decisive yellow card.

Still, I suppose he has another game to 'earn' his selection.

More like he has another game to cock it up and get banned; Ashton managed it quite well :smt005

Fair points. I made a couple of sweeping statements which were wildly inaccurate.

But my point still stands. Hartley is not the form hooker in the league, so under Jones criteria he should not be captain.

Nor will he. Jones is playing with the media and why not, many of them are arrogant sheiz stirrers.
