When do we get O'Connor?

Post by loretta »

I've tried reading back to find this, but gave up after 20 minutes. Anyone able to enlighten me?
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

His side Hawke's Bay will be in the semi finals of the ITM Cup. Should they make the final, that game is on the 24th October.

You'd be surprised if he was available immediately, so I'd imagine either for the Exeter game away on 7th November or the Stade Francais game the following Friday.

Cockers is on record as saying that O'Connor will need to be very carefully integrated. He's played a whole Super Rugby series, stand-out player in a losing side, followed by captaining Hawkes Bay in the ITM Cup. He has been 'Mr Perpetual Motion' in the back row and hasn't even been injured, so about the only break he's had was last week when he was rested. It may be tempting to force him into the team immediately, but patience may be wiser.

We will probably only get him after he's got a 6 month injury recovery :smt009

Played alright this morning in the half of HB v Waikato I caught before work. Scored a try. Played at 7 which was a change as most of the recent HB games shown on Sky he's been at No 8.

You're right, of course. It wouldn't surprise me if he wants to to get stuck in straight away. He seems to be that kind of bloke!

I was talking to an Auckland Blues fan outside the All Blacks game on Fri night and he was devastated they had lost O'Connor..He reckons he will play for England he is that good..

Exciting times ahead for the 7 jersey :smt023 remember when all you lot (no exact names included) were bemoaning the loss of Salvi..I really think O'Connor is going to be a huge player for us having watched him in the Super 15 last year :smt023

Agreed, I too started to view him in games to see what all the fuss was about, to those who have not seen him in action yet, wait till you do to make a judgement.
