Kaino has signed a 3 year deal with NZ rugby and the Blues.

Fair play to him staying in NZ when he could make a huge final contract aboard.

Will take his name of the rumours.

Just returned from a trip to South Africa and went to the Bulls vs Western Force game in the Super 15.

Mentioned to the SA guys we were with that there were rumours of us maybe signing Willie Le Roux. They basically said that he is an outstanding player and would be a massive signing.

Pitau on that wage is just obscene...

How they think he is worth that god only knows..Only fly halves are worth that kind of money in my opinion outside backs don't impact games to the tune of those funds..

Main trouble is now the likes of Le Roux etc will see this and maybe think if he is worth that much i should be worth this much then.

Exactly...It is just going to get ridiculous from here onwards..

Neil Fissler of the Rugby Paper has said Exeter are going to sign Francois Hougaard as their marquee..we were keeping tabs on him but looks like we decided against it perhaps? Happy with that personally

Kevin Sinfield switching codes to play for Yorkshire - wonder where he'll play? 10 perhaps?

A bit harsh given Fife got a bang on the head and may have been wrongly diagnosed if you look at his subsequent defending!

Didn't Cockerill state we wouldn't be signing a marquee player? I may be wrong...

Yeah looks like your right DC see below extract from Cockers on the 2nd marquee player:

"That is not Leicester's way of doing business," Cockerill told the Daily Telegraph. "It upsets the balance for us. We want guys to be here for the long haul. We want them to be here for three or four years, to become part of the city, part of the culture, with their families.
"A lot of guys come here and form an emotional attachment to the club and that is what we like to see happen. It is not everyone's way. Some want to go out and spend £7, 8, 900,000 on a Genia or a Richie McCaw or an Israel Folau. It won't be long before we see the first million-pound a season player. But you have got to be careful. We have got a lot of what you might call marquee players here anyway. Do you want to run the risk of upsetting that balance?"

Sad but understandable...still think a marquee 10 for example Nick Evans or a Willem Alberts works for me personally in theory but it doesn't go with our ethos granted :smt012

He's right in saying we've got a number of marquee players, but we look like losing at least two this summer. If our current recruitment policy continues and neglect of the Academy means that talent isn't coming through, what then?

He technically doesn't say he doesn't want to bring in any, just that they will be player he thinks will fit in with the club and not just because they are a huge name player.

Players like Alberts are rumoured to be looking at 400,000 not the 700,000 + cockers was talking about.

On Radio Leicester I remember him and Cohen saying they are not against bringing in a marquee player but they would have to fit the right mould and also roughly fit the right pay.

Who would you say are our marquee players? (for next season)
Persoanlly I would say Manu, the Youngs bros, Cole, Ayerza.

Sam Harrison has extended his current deal. http://www.leicestertigers.com/news/225 ... Rv07ZN4pms

Never any doubt he would to me.

Yeah have to agree, don't think RC meant we won't be using the marquee space, more that we won't go out and spend a huge amount on one individual just because it's possible, like Ulster and Piatau. More probable we'll sign someone we feel is a better fit for us on a reasonable wage and allocate them as the marquee, than spend big for the sake of it. I'm sure there'll be some juggling round the following season with the likes of Cole/Youngs/Manu, manoeuvred into the second marquee slot, with the new signing shuffled out into the salary cap.
