Agree with you that young Thacker has looked good at 7 and 2 and I think it is ok to let him play there in an LV game but feel he is too young and his body not hardened enough to take some of the big hits a 7 has to take at the breakdown in a premiership game. I am sure with his build he would be good at getting over the ball but his neck and back would take a pounding from attempts to get him off the ball. Salvi, Louwe and Armitage are great at getting over he ball and very difficult to move and Harry may be very good at it in about 6 years time and until then we have to protect him if his future is at 7.

I agree about his size, but then Neil Back never did things just be strength and he was pretty good at 7 (although never as good as he thought he was!) Most turn overs aren't from strength over the ball but from getting there early which HT does.

Agree - and having a low centre of gravity also helps. You can balance rather than flop and get penalised. Steffon Armitage uses a different "shape" to get the low CoG but shorter players can be equally as effective.

Considering he's played hooker at AP level I assume his neck and back are in pretty robust shape. He's a quality young player but a decision should be made shortly on where his best position is. He needs that focus and we should be looking to find that squad role for next season as either third choice hooker or second choice 7.

To Dicky P
In defense of Neil Back, no matter what has happened since he left us he was the outstanding No7 in his time, he did so much link play and some of his tackles when seen in slow mo were near on impossible,so please don't let his attitude since diminish his playing legacy.
A lot of us have feet of clay.

Catchpole, Roberts and Bell putting there hands up.

Great to see the 2 centres carrying on from last weekend.

Maybe we could see them start against Glous (Who will be missing Laidlaw, May and 36) and move Goneva to the wing for once.
