Needed players to be on top form, sadly many were well below.
Re: Toulon away leg
Last weeks honeymoon flattered to deceive its back to normal abysmal service resumed. Bring on Saints we will put 67 points on them

Re: Toulon away leg
The first 20 minutes killed us. But throughout we suffered from poor discipline, and an usually bad afternoon from the boot for Williams.
Looking at the odd few positives: seeing Croft back is great. The scrum was solid. Burns looked ok when we has on (unsurprising as he will want to impress).
Improvements needed for Saints next week.

Re: Toulon away leg
Williams felt the unwanted pressure from Cardiff today imo.
Hopefully the welsh hype will die down and he will be able to focus again.
But the whole team looked rattled today.
at least we only allowed 2 tries.
Our defence has improved a lot since the dark early season days.
We need Loamanu and Manu back though.
And imo another finisher next season Goneva isn't backing himself.

Goneva's body is on the pitch but where is his brain these days he killed a golden try scoring opportunity from Tait's break and knocked on frequently.RagingBull wrote: And imo another finisher next season Goneva isn't backing himself.

Hopes raised last week............dashed this week!
Plenty of heart and guts but no pace poor tactics and poorer execution. Men versus boys.
Very disappointed we did not make a better show

Re: Toulon away leg
Anyone else think, all other flaws aside (of which there were many), we were tactically severely lacking? Running into contact with no support into one of the best breakdown sides in Europe. Not to mention we failed to recognise the style with which Clancy refs the game or adapt to it for that matter.
On a side note I feel they should take a bit of time out to do an entire squad session revolving around taking high balls... shocking.

Simply outclassed. If we ever want to be the best again, we have a long way to go.

You're right in that you could see the turnovers coming a mile off. Too many isolated runners - Allen in the first half and De Chaves in the second were two examples (but not the only ones).UpTheLowEnd wrote:Anyone else think, all other flaws aside (of which there were many), we were tactically severely lacking? Re: Toulon away leg
The quality of our back play continues to be truly appalling, Smith continues his infamous inability to pass and now Allen has joined him both always looking for contact or the deck in that order. Goneva is not a 13 and this shows just what a poor decision it was to throw Loamanu straight in post his return from injury against would you believe the Barbarians where he immediately gets broken again.

Re: Toulon away leg
Yes, second best in too many areas.
Poor play from Williams, but hope he bounces back soon. Also thought Allen and Smith were poor - defensively ok but Allen lost the ball three times going into contact and being turned over (or giving the penalty away). Our back play is pretty shocking all round bar Ben Youngs who had a decent game on the whole (including an incredible try saving tackle - which delayed the inevitable for 20 seconds or so).
Forwards ok - held their own at the scrum and lineout (probably edged them both in stats). Breakdown play nowhere near as good last week and Stefon Armitage was a real thorn - obviously trying to prove a point to those Tiger supporters who didn't rate him last week.
While we mathematically have every chance going through, I'm afraid realistically we won't get a best second place spot given scores in the other groups. As Cockers summarised, the loss down at Scarlets is what will really hurt us.

Re: Toulon away leg
Nothing more than we actually knew already.
We are a centre (13) and one winger (Goneva gone mentally) needed and tactics have not improved. I have no idea why Tait isn't moved to his WC position of 13 and Bell/Burns put in at FB. Both are excellent attackers from deep.
The AP playoffs are there for us if we now concentrate on them.

I've not given up yet and hope to go to Belfast for the last game, beat Scarlets at home and we will be fine. Couple of key class players missing, I think we are missing not only Manu, but also Logi, we seem to be missing a threat with ball in hand. We went to France and did what every one else has done at the Mayol, we were beaten by the better side on the day. No dramas or wringing of hands, look where we were a few weeks back and after last week breaking Toulons unbeaten run, we are not there yet, but we have things in hand to put it right when Aaron gets here.

Do we employ anyone at Tigers who is actually capable of coaching some semblance of an attack Or has the club decided to let it rot on the vine enduring a slow death in favour of waiting for the messiah to arrive in time for next season
