Re: Burgess on the bench
The lad is a very special talent. Real shame we couldn't get him but also very excited to see what he can do!
Re: Burgess on the bench
When it comes to league converts, i've got 2 things to say - Gareth and Raynor!!
I'm sure SB will be better, but i'm yet to be convinced he can play in the back row.

Re: Burgess on the bench
He is replacement 22 which alludes to inside center which is where I hope to see him long term and for England!

Re: Burgess on the bench
I think he has always been destined to play at 12. Ford just can't come out and say it as it would be a bit harsh on Eastmond.
Re: Burgess on the bench
The logical place would be centre - to convert to back row would probably take too long to be practical.
If he does play centre it would cast a shadow over Eastmond staying at Bath.

Re: Burgess on the bench
Eastmond will be heading back to RL
Re: Burgess on the bench
Source? I'd expect acouple of clubs to be interested as he has shown he can do serious damage in the right setting.Sajerj wrote:Eastmond will be heading back to RL
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

How about as a replacement for AAjgriffin wrote:Source? I'd expect acouple of clubs to be interested as he has shown he can do serious damage in the right setting.Sajerj wrote:Eastmond will be heading back to RL
Re: Burgess on the bench
He'd have his work cut out to replace AA. Eastmond is a wonderful player to watch and has a great step and speed. But that's only part of what a 12 does. Can he organise the defense like AA? I very much doubt it. I think he'd be a great signing for us but he needs to improve that side of his game to be a regular starter for England rather than a stopgap for injuries.Doghashadhisday wrote:How about as a replacement for AAjgriffin wrote:Source? As a 12, my personal opinion is forget it. On the assumption that Manu regains fitness at some point, you cannot pair Eastmond with Manu. Neither of them have the strategic skills required of at least one of your centers.

Re: Burgess on the bench
Are we saying two international centres couldn't hack it at club level?
These two together I think would complement each other ..... speed and strength, guile and power etc
Personally I think they would rip club level defences to bits and would probably be England's best combo for the WC if Burgess doesn't take to Union the way some people think.

Re: Burgess on the bench
Manu and Eastmond look very good together in the first AB game if only Lanacaster had the guts to have kept them.
