"If you want entertainment, go to the theatre," says Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill. "Rugby players play the game to win.15/1/21.
Re: Date set for Cockerill appeal
I would take anyone's money who wants to bet for a complete let off. As he isn't contesting the verdict !!!!!!
Re: Date set for Cockerill appeal
Will Mr Pierepoint be available at dawn on Tuesday morning.
Re: Date set for Cockerill appeal
Sadly we abolished hanging some years ago, many say it should be repealed, but not for rugby crimes.

To include 2 of the 3 pre-season friendlies......Ulster & Jersey, doesn't include the Montpellier friendly because, apparently, the RFU didn't think that was the right thing to doKnightonian wrote:Martin Crowson just tweeted 9 match ban to continue but to include pre-season friendlies

Bizarre, IMO, that they seem to acknowledge a need to right a wrong but still have their little dig....
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
Re: Cockerel resentenced
Presumably it's because we have an 'empty' weekend between Montpellier (Fri Aug 9th) and Jersey (Sat Aug 24th).WhitecapTiger wrote:To include 2 of the 3 pre-season friendlies......Ulster & Jersey, doesn't include the Montpellier friendly because, apparently, the RFU didn't think that was the right thing to doKnightonian wrote:Martin Crowson just tweeted 9 match ban to continue but to include pre-season friendlies

Admittedly they could have included the Montpellier game and changed it to a 9 game ban rather than a 9 week ban. (This is one of the (few) occasions were I feel football is better than rugby - bans by match, rather than weeks).

Re: Cockerel resentenced
One has to ask if the RFU Discipline Panal has been taken over by the same 'Yellow Shirted Buffoons', that seem to officiate at most Tigers matches.
Are these people supported by Rugby/Legal experts who should avoid these almost comical outcomes?

Re: Cockerel resentenced
even this new sentence is out of order. normal punishments in rugby are for a number of weeks not matches. the sentence should also start from the date of the hearing which by my calculation would mean the ban ending on the 30th of September. Oh silly me this would mean Cockers coming back for the game against you know who !!
Re: Cockerel resentenced
After all these years these "old farts" are still not fit for purpose.
Re: Cockerill resentenced
The RFU are like those people you see in the street dressed in badly fitting clothes and think "Jezz, do you not own a mirror", totally oblivious to how others see them.
This is clearly to fit the RFU'S agenda and nothing to do with fair justice. If you are going to ban him, than ban him for either a period of time or matches, don't manipulate it to suit yourselves. If they ban someone then the start of the ban and criteria should be the same for everyone, regardless of what they were found guilty of. The sanctions should be applied fairly, Muppets the lot of them!

Fully agree. Further evidence that the RFU and their appellant body make it up as they go along. If they wanted to take him out of the equation up to a particular match, then the ban system should run for a number of matches. Certainly an instance (a solitary instance?) where football is clearer.

Ask not what your Tigers can do for you, but what you can do for your Tigers
